Now Disney Lucasfilm, New score releases next!

They're coming, too. The naysayers will be eating crow.

Here's a lunchbox they can put it in (as Michael J. Fox once said)...

Well, let's hope they release an official 4k box-set of the three films sometime in the near future.
The 35mm scans are wonderful, but I would totally buy it!

Now I’ll need to eat my hat and be laughed at… But I was never happier to be proven wrong 😊

Let us know if that feeling still holds after you're halfway through your hat. ;)

Magnificent news! Let's hope there is indeed a home release as well. But either way I'll look forward to finally seeing the original version on the big screen.

I hope we get a sand-filled Vinyl release of the OST!

I can't tell if you're joking.

If it really is any pre-1997 version of the movie, I'll go see it in the cinema!

As will I mate. I never thought Star Wars would get me in the cinema again, but this? 💯

Is this occasion auspicious enough for a JWFAN rendezvous someplace? 🤔

In glorious, four-channel Dolby Stereo.

I was under the impression that they're doing a 7.1 surround mix based on the original Dolby Stereo track.

I was just kidding Xander. :)

Don’t forget, the leaked video was from all three films. This only confirms Star Wars.  Please please please do a home video release of all 3.

They will. Money is their favorite thing.

So my theory with this is that yes it's the original cut but it's going to be more of a rebuild of the original. I think they'll be taking original elements and compositing shots digitally so we get the original version, but without matte lines or transparency issues.

I also think this is for the best. Preserves the original work and presents an idealised version of the original theatrical cuts.

This is based on the leaks included raw VFX plates and detailing additional cleanup work.

I’ve been wondering the exact same.

So a fake version of the “original” for George-loathing nerds. Will they rebuild the blob obviously hiding the wheels under the landspeeder as it bounces up and down?

Star Wars Returns to Theaters for 50th Anniversary | StarWars.com

So the leaks were indeed true, the theatrical cut of Star Wars is returning to theaters!

Considering we already know about the other two films being worked on, I guess those'll likely either be returning to theaters as well, or at least releasing in some form (4K boxset please!)

Including plates for deleted scenes, I wonder if those would be included in 4k in a hypothetical physical release, including the unaltered Jabba scene and General Tagge mentioning Sith that was shown at Celebration 2017

Hmmmm.. I'm not sure I understood what you wanted to say with this screenshot..

My realist side says it's going to be an upgraded, perfectly restored, clean, smooth, 15K version of the original cut. Not the actual way it truly looked.

Either release it completely as is was in 77, or don't bother.

I wonder if they'll correct the "Force Field" under Luke's Speeder. That would be a fair 4K restoration... nothing added, just a high‑def tweak...
