Popular Post BrotherSound 2,666 Posted January 4 Popular Post Posted January 4 I also posted this in the Intrada thread in General Discussion, but I thought it deserved its own topic in the JW forum. Intrada has five JW titles in the works which will hopefully all be released in 2026. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1FARmW7Vgg/?mibextid=wwXIfr Quote Happy New Year! Popular Post crumbs 15,934 Posted January 5 Popular Post Posted January 5 Well this is awesome news! Mike is keeping busy!! Being Intrada, the most logical scores would have to be: Jaws 2 (same program as the previous Intrada but remastered) Nixon (Disney. JW speaks so highly of these collaborations, seems like we're due for at least one Oliver Stone expansion?) Cinderella Liberty (Fox. Seems like the type of older score that would be revisited for an expansion, especially given the violin arrangement a few years back) Roger mentioned years ago they tried to do The Rare Breed and Story of a Woman, but both were rejected by JW. Given we saw Sugarland Express finally released for its 50th anniversary, maybe JW's come around on these scores too? 2026 is the 60th anniversary of The Rare Breed. Or maybe it's something more modern like Tibet or Angela's Ashes? Once, chriss, ST-321 and 9 others 12

Quppa 541 Posted January 5 Posted January 5 5 is huge, reissues or not - looking at @Jay's list La-La Land has had a few years with 4 releases, but I can't see any labels with 5 in a single year.
Richard P 5,252 Posted January 5 Posted January 5 That's pretty amazing! I'm unlikely to be interested in most of them, but hopefully it means a significant chance of getting The Terminal from one of the labels.

So, as for Williams, anything is possible when it comes to previously unexpanded titles, with the exception of the ones recorded after July 3, 2005, and the four that are from Warner Bros.: The Witches of Eastwick The Accidental Tourist JFK Sleepers

Popular Post Giftheck 1,219 Posted January 6 Popular Post Posted January 6 I don't know... If you'd told me a year ago that Disney would finally break through the George Lucas-mandated deadlock about showing the original cuts of Star Wars, I'd have probably laughed, thinking it was a joke. What they do with the IP is surprisingly difficult to predict. Who knows? They might wind up doing it. But I would not expect the OT this year, at the least. If it happens, it'd likely be next year at the earliest, to tie in with the theatrical rerelease of the OT original cuts. ThePenitentMan1, Stark and Yavar Moradi 3

On 02/01/2023 at 2:36 PM, Jay said: If anybody is wondering why Warner's list is so small outside of Varese, I direct you to two blog posts by Lukas Kendall In recent years, Warner Bros. has pivoted away from doing soundtrack album licenses at all, for a bunch of reasons that have to do with corporate ownership and directives, which I’m not really qualified to analyze—and even if I was, I’d probably keep my mouth shut. Warner Bros. is a magnificent studio with a ton of film and TV music that they could monetize—and at the moment they don’t want to invest the resources into the legal clearances and research to do it. from https://www.lukaskendall.com/post/the-dumbest-thing-i-hated-producing-cds-warner-bros-art-licenses I don’t want to chronicle how we got from there to here, but at the moment, the studio is so hollowed out, there’s just no way they can research titles for music licensing. So that’s why so many of those great old unreleased scores aren’t coming out on CD. And, in fact, why even the CDs that were already released, not only by FSM but other labels, aren’t being distributed digitally. from https://www.lukaskendall.com/post/warner-bros-layoffs As for how the Varese WB titles happen - there are no new licenses granted for these, Varese already has a license to release any music from those films. So WB just has to sign-off of the new editions, not figuring out a license like they would for a film that had a score album on a major music label. Yavar Moradi 1

Isn't that OST just an assembly of film cues? So it could have just been recreated from them? Or is it a significantly different mix?
phbart 707 Posted March 18 Posted March 18 I believe the OST album has some different takes here and there (typical JW), not really sure exactly what cues. If I'm not mistaken those alternate takes are only available on the OST album sources and not the film tracks (hence why the OST presentation on CD2 is from the album master tapes and not reconstructed from other elements). It's not clear what exactly the new source for the OST album was for that alternate release, but it's the one available on all streamings as of today. MM will disagree (and he has a point, as he stated in his interview back in 2015), but to me it does sounds better than the Intrada release, film tracks or OST regardless.
