filmmusic 3,205 Posted January 24 Posted January 24 The internet! Since I don't have any friends (not that I'm bothered by this in any way), I stay all day in front of the pc (when I don't go to work and the gym) and surf. The thing is, I don't even sleep very much due to this. I may sleep 4-5 hours at the most. Even if I sleep relatively early (eg. at 00.00), I get up at 4.30-5.00 in the morning and go to the pc again! Even in days that I don't have work, I get up early and go to the pc. Maybe I need help? I don't know.. So, what's your story?

Xander Harris 9,546 Posted January 24 Posted January 24 I've gone in the opposite direction with The Net. I'm on it less and less. I can't even find anything to entertain me anymore. My YouTube and Instagram feeds have totally deteriorated. There's just nothing to do on it. I also don't really have any friends. Okay, that's not true, but it's sort of true. Let's face it. Nobody can stand my ass. People within my own family plot to hurt me. Literally, as the kids are saying these days. And let's face it. At the end of the day, I'm not going out socializing. I don't want to hang out 99% of the time. I'd rather be watching Buffy alone, pretending like I have better friends from a TV show. MrJosh 1
filmmusic 3,205 Posted January 24 Author Posted January 24 That's interesting @Xander Harris! So, how do you spend your day if you haven't got many friends, you don't go out, and you don't surf on the net? Can you please elaborate on that if you'd like? For example, you get drunk often, or you don't reach that stage? Also, how music is an addiction? You're listening to a lot of it during the day? Doing nothing or you do other things simultaneously?
Bespin Copilot 10,731 Posted January 24 Posted January 24 I’m never drunk! And I only drink after work hours, so about 4 PM, some wine at dinner and that's it. I think that alone disqualifies me from being an alcoholic. I know people who start drinking at 10 AM. I only do that when I’m on vacation. I'm like JR in Dallas, but gay, not USian, and without a cowboy hat. As for music, I listen to it pretty much all day while I’m working and managing all my Facebook pages (Aznavour, John Williams, Patof). filmmusic 1

Not only did my parents and drug PSA advertisements of the 80s work on me, but I’m prone to panic attacks and take medication for them. So I’m scared that the marijuana would have an adverse or potentially lethal effect. It’s a shame too, because I’d really love to try it and listen to music or watch movies stoned. And I wonder if I went off the medication and self medicated with cannabis if I wouldn’t mellow out across the board.

I don't know, I've always been away from substances and drugs (except the prescribed drugs of course by a doctor), and I cannot understand why people want to start them in the first place, when they know they do more harm than good.
Andy 7,543 Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Reasons I want to try pot? I don’t know, let’s see: Steef does it. Willie Nelson looks like he loves life. I want to experience film and music through a different lens. In my friend circle, I was the only kid in college who said no. I’m a bit high strung and could stand to chill out, especially as I age. My family/siblings joke about it a lot, because it was forbidden and now it isn’t. The stigma has been removed. And The Next business over from my work is a gigantic medicinal marijuana growing facility and dispensary. We’re talking highly regulated, top grade quality stuff. Not crap you get from a junk dealer. All different strains. All different forms: gummies, creams, chocolates, powders, etc. We got to know the workers and they gave us a top to bottom tour. Got to see the enormous nurseries and greenhouses, the bakery facilities, the packing plant… everything but the retail counter. It was really, really interesting. Boy did my clothes reek coming home that day. Sadly, they closed because they can’t compete with all the cheap unregulated corner stores. They still grow it on site, but they don’t sell it there. So yeah I’m just so curious. Not saying I want to be habitual, but then again I look at my parents who are John Williams’ age and the health problems and pains they have and wonder if they could be happier with some recreational or medicinal cannabis use. filmmusic 1

Popular Post Edmilson 12,208 Posted January 25 Popular Post Posted January 25 27 minutes ago, Mr. Hooper said: You didn't mention porn, so I'll say Star Wars porn. Final answer, Regis. Star Warsexual But no. The thing is, for the most part of the last decade, I was emotionally dependent of a person. I was actually addicted to that person, which both is a metaphor and not. I felt bad, sometimes physically, when something happened that prevented us to meet. Now, this description might conjur images of pathetic people who crawl begging for attention of their objects of obsession (like Smithers and Mr Burns), or villainous creeps and stalkers (like in the Netflix shows "You" and "Baby Reindeer"). But in reality, for the most part, the only one who was hurt by it was me. For the person and our families, I was actually a nice guy who acted as a great partner. But, on the inside, I felt like life was only worth it by her side. We did everything together, we had an awesome group of friends. It's like by that person's side, everything felt a lot better. And in contrast, everything that I did by myself was just boring, dull, tedious, dismal. It's like in that episode of The Simpsons when Homer tries to go sober. He goes to a football game where everyone in the audience is drunk, and he's like "this game is so boring without alcohol". But then, a few months before the pandemic, we had a fight, it became painfully apparent how emotionally dependent I was of their company, and they cut all contact with me. You can imagine how horrible it feels to be totally dependent on a drug and then suddenly it gets taken away from you. So I was in a really, really, really awful state by the final days of 2019 and the beginning of 2020. To make matters even worse, we faced two deaths in the family (unrelated to that case) during that same time. So yeah, it was crap. And it was crap for a long time since then. Only, like, two years ago I've started to forget about it (these days, I'm clean, and have no problem talking about it). But what does all of that sad story has to do with Star Wars? Well, what Star Wars movie was being released in theaters by the end of 2019? We were planning on watching that movie together at the opening day (back when we expected it to be good). It was going to be such an epic day, not because of the movie, but anyway. But then, we had our falling out, and on the day we had planned to see it, we had a big fight. It was messy, shameful and awful, one of the worst days of my life. Weirdly, the fact that that movie is so terrible makes me feel a little better about that terrible day. Had it been good I could've felt like we lost an even more amazing day together because of my mistakes. But since it was awful, well, at least I can make fun of it. Still, that movie is so connected to such a horrible period in my life that... I can't even think about it. I can't watch it, can't listen to the John Williams score, can't laugh at the Palpatine memes. I can't even type its name. It's not like it causes PTSD, more like I fear that if I do it I'll feel the same frustration... It's been diagonsed as OCD. So yeah... That's it. Mr. Hooper, filmmusic, Andy and 3 others 3 3

Edmilson 12,208 Posted January 25 Posted January 25 18 minutes ago, Bespin Copilot said: So you linked one of the sadest episode of your life with... Star Wars. Yeah... We were supposed to watch the so called finale of the Skywalker Saga together in theaters, but then we had our falling out. Mind you, Star Wars had been with us since the beginning - it was because of me that they started watching the franchise (with Episodes IV, V and VI, which is the correct way ). Anyway, it was sad, but it's in the past now, and with the benefit of the hindsight, I came to see it less like a tragedy and more like a necessary shakedown that, through a long and painful way, put me in a more peaceful state of mind and made me a better person. I hope the other feels that way too. 16 minutes ago, BloodBoal said: Sorry to hear that, Edmilson. I hope things will get better for you in the future. And remember: while you can't watch Star Wars, you can still watch The Lord Of The Rings, and that is a comforting thought. Much better! But it's not all of Star Wars, though. Just that movie that came out in 2019. And, through some other circunstances, the previous J.J. Abrams directed Star Wars movie from 2015 as well. It's fine, it's not like I'm missing any cinematic masterpiece, especially with the 2019. But I do miss listening to the JW scores though...
