There's also an earlier concert including Williams' work alongside other American composers, although the program is not listed yet. benoitjean 106 Posted January 29 Posted January 29 I will wait patiently. Thank you. Perhaps John Williams will compose for this occasion. In France, some specialists call him the composer of the American court JB ChipChune92 and Bayesian 2

ChipChune92 63 Posted January 30 Posted January 30 I feel like its a re-hash of the one they will now have done a few times, which was originally done during covid and then they eventually did again at some point.
Tom 6,677 Posted January 30 Posted January 30 I would assume that there will be something from Disclosure Day for Film Night. BB-8 1
Escape_Velocity 77 Posted January 30 Posted January 30 I see they took the Hollywood Bowl concert name. Glad to see a unifying theme, the two always felt like sister concerts. rpvee and Jay 2

Now that it's not called "Film Night," it'll be featuring "more than fifty minutes of specially edited scenes and clips from John Williams' best-loved films." Smeltington 1,946 Posted January 30 Author Posted January 30 I would think the name change is to prevent people who are familiar with the Film Night tradition from expecting Williams to conduct. But it certainly seems to follow the exact same format, and will probably use many of the same video clips and montages from previous years. We'll have to wait for the program, but "selections from his most iconic scores – Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List, Superman, Lincoln and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial" makes it sound like we'll be in very familiar territory. However, I do trust Lockhart to throw in a few things we haven't heard a million times, he seems to be attuned to the need for that. Maybe he'll bring in some of the seldom-heard material from Star Wars and Harry Potter that he conducted in their respective Pops concerts in recent years. I will most likely be attending, and look forward to continuing the tradition!
rpvee 1,086 Posted January 30 Posted January 30 It’s still called Film Night under the new title. 44 minutes ago, Jay said: Hopefully Williams attends! I don’t see why he would. There’s no piece to premiere this year that would motivate him to go to Tanglewood at all. And even then, when there was a premiere last year, he didn’t stick around another few days for Film Night. When he didn’t show up, those of us who had gone definitely felt a bit less magic during the concert, enjoyable as the evening was. It just wasn’t the same without him there. I suppose it’s a good problem to have - being so used to seeing him in person so often that an event without him just doesn’t feel right - but I also don’t know if the trip is worth it anymore for those of us with that privilege of unique perspective. benoitjean 106 Posted January 30 Posted January 30 I would like him to here, but it's unlikely. Fingers crossed JB rpvee 1
