Popular Post Yavar Moradi 4,366 Posted April 16 Popular Post Posted April 16 Getting a cool new Bond song by David Arnold was certainly not on my bingo card today… The lyrics aren’t all great but Lana Del Rey’s got a great voice for Bond and WOW, that orchestra! I’m getting “Surrender” vibes (and maybe even a touch of “Gollum’s Song” at the beginning?)… this is SO good, IMO, and apparently Nicholas Dodd is back too! Who had any idea they were involved with this major new Bond game? Yavar Trope, Quppa, Cameron1138 and 10 others 3 10
Edmilson 12,224 Posted April 16 Posted April 16 Wiki says the game's score was composed by The Flight: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/007_First_Light So yeah, it's likely that Arnold's involvement was limited to the song. dyemery 1
Gabriel Bezerra 770 Posted April 16 Posted April 16 Wonder if the song will be incorporated into the actual score... seeing it's from The Flight, I'm not that hopeful. Yavar Moradi 1

On the slightly optimistic side, a few of their other projects have co-composers, for example Christian Henson on Alien: Isolation.
Quintus 6,333 Posted April 16 Posted April 16 Surprised they didn't keep Lana back for the movie tbh, she's pretty good. The facial appearance of the game's young Bond I cannot get past though. He looks more like something out of a Guy Richie movie. Cameron1138 1

JibberJabberwocky 16 Posted April 16 Posted April 16 I really like it. The backing vocals remind me of a Massive Attack song. And it just oozes Lana which is great. Yavar Moradi 1
Quppa 537 Posted April 16 Posted April 16 I think this is the first Arnold/Dodd collaboration since Paul (2011), aside from the 2022 Sound of 007 concert. Neat! I'm still worried we'll get Zimmer and associates back for Bond 26 given Villeneuve is directing, but this gives me a glimmer of hope for Arnold's return since Amazon seems to have creative oversight of both this game and the upcoming film. Edmilson 12,224 Posted April 17 Posted April 17 The only LDR song I like is Video Games. Though I haven't listened to anything new she has released since, what, 2012? 2013? Her voice and style fits Bond more than Eilish, though.
Jill Sandwich 11,039 Posted April 17 Posted April 17 I want to listen to more LDR. She's really hot and I like this song. Cameron1138 1
Popular Post JazzyNips 181 Posted April 17 Popular Post Posted April 17 Pretty weak effort from Lana; no cohesion, no real hook, and the lyrics almost sound like Taylor Swift could have wrote them. Trope, dyemery and GerateWohl 3

It oozes Bond, but I agree on the lack of hook - the chorus section doesn't pull me in at all - nothing to hum. However, her other song that was apparently rejected as a Bond song, 24, has a similar issue for me with a melody that doesn't really do it for me. I like the part with the Gollum's Song vibe - it's the chorus that isn't working for me yet. The very first bit made me think Dua's Hotter Than Hell was about to start (I really want her to do the next actual Bond song) Quppa 1

I love most of LDR's earlier work - in fact she was by a country mile my favourite non-soundtrack artist until around 2019 when Imagine Dragons took over for a few years. Born to Die, Paradise, and Ultraviolence are relative classics - it's only from Honeymoon onwards that her style started to change a bit. I do like LFL, Chemtrails and NFR, but I still haven't quite worked out what Did you know... is trying to be - it's a weird album, which I only sampled to check it didn't completely suck, before requesting as a birthday gift.

Edmilson 12,224 Posted April 17 Posted April 17 This game brings me fond memories of this: I loved playing this on X360 back in the day. It's better (and better Bond) than most Craig movies... Sweeping Strings 1

Jay 45,820 Posted April 17 Posted April 17 And here it is Now I see why they released the other version first; It has a nice clean proper ending, while this video has an abrupt one likely since the game immediately continues into something else. Yavar Moradi 1

crocodile 9,634 Posted Wednesday at 10:29 AM Posted Wednesday at 10:29 AM The song has the right tone, arrangement and voice. But I can't say I am that crazy about the tune itself. When I try to recall it, I end up with rowing cue from Ben-Hur. 😆 Still, nice to hear. Karol
Quintus 6,333 Posted Wednesday at 11:18 AM Posted Wednesday at 11:18 AM I saw some new gameplay footage and if you remove the flashy set pieces the main brunt of the gameplay looks rote asf, it looks really boring.
Sweeping Strings 3,386 Posted Wednesday at 11:30 AM Posted Wednesday at 11:30 AM Yeah, just had a look at some myself. Fairly standard 'stealth, scrap and shoot' stuff (admittedly it looks nice).
Luke Skywalker 2,364 Posted Thursday at 07:40 PM Posted Thursday at 07:40 PM The bond running in the cinematic looks atrociois. Like some 2000’s videogame
Gabriel Bezerra 770 Posted Thursday at 10:35 PM Posted Thursday at 10:35 PM It usually feels funky when they try to semi-slow-mo a digital character. At least I don't remember seeing a convincing attempt.
Xander Harris 9,559 Posted Thursday at 10:49 PM Posted Thursday at 10:49 PM I'm still waiting for the Indiana Jones game to go on clearance. I can wait for this one. It's apparently the most popular Playstation title right now alongside the Lego Batman Saga. Honestly, I'll probably pay full price for the Lego Batman game.
Jill Sandwich 11,039 Posted yesterday at 04:35 PM Posted yesterday at 04:35 PM The Indy game really isn't all that good. I'll finish it eventually, but I'm not in a rush.
