Jay 46,807 Posted May 29 Author Posted May 29 Apparently this June 19th release date for the OST album has been on the internet since Tuesday, even though I only just saw it shortly before starting the thread. I came across a post in the Intrada Soundtrack Club group on Facebook where two different posters referenced a June 19th release date, which I thought was odd since the film opens on June 12th. So I did some googling, and came across that Threads post that I put in the main post. I couldn't find any other references to it, but maybe somebody else will find something more concrete. If the OST album isn't coming out until June 19th, that will be the first John Williams OST album to not be available either on the same day that the film opens or earlier since.... well, I don't know when! Who wants to research this? Brando and BachSkywalker 2
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,684 Posted May 29 Posted May 29 We live in such dismal times! I'll probably just settle for a lossless download from Qubuzz or HDTracks

JohnnyD 1,915 Posted May 29 Posted May 29 I don't see why the soundtrack would be released a week after the film's release, not that it is a major gripe; it is only a week. Better to have official confirmation.
Pawel P. 987 Posted May 29 Posted May 29 Well, that would be like the good old days. If we want to hear the new score, we'll have to go back to the theater. 😉 Brando 1

I'm fine either way, as I will be seeing the film multiple times in theaters.

Jay 46,807 Posted May 29 Author Posted May 29 At this point it's just as likely that that Threads user was going off some legitimate information he received, as it is he made a typo and meant to time June 12th. Who knows.

filmmusic 3,320 Posted May 30 Posted May 30 Is there any chance this won't be released on physical cd? Hasn't this been done with some soundtracks of the last years? Although, I can't believe that a Williams score, wouldn't!
tomsmoviemadness 5,022 Posted May 30 Posted May 30 What is this for kinda message. Does that mean, details next week? Or what??

Ricard 2,715 Posted May 30 Posted May 30 Here's what Grok says about the album cover: The images in the @filmmusicrep posts (the dramatic glowing blue eye with "ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK", "SPIELBERG", "DISCLOSURE DAY", and "MUSIC BY JOHN WILLIAMS") are promotional teaser/mockup artwork, not the final retail album cover. Why? No official retail cover has been released yet. The soundtrack is still upcoming (digital ~June 19, 2026 via Back Lot Music; physical via Mondo). Sites tracking the release (including FMDB and major soundtrack databases) explicitly note "No cover available." John Williams fan communities (e.g., JWFan) label this exact style of artwork as "unofficial cover" and have dedicated threads for fan-made/custom versions while waiting for the real one. It’s high-quality and professionally designed (fits the film’s sci-fi “disclosure”/observation theme perfectly), which is why @filmmusicrep used it for the announcement. Labels and reporters often share teaser mockups like this early on, especially for vinyl announcements with Mondo. It functions as official promotional teaser art for the news drop, but it is very likely not the finalized cover that will appear on digital stores or the physical release. That usually comes closer to (or at) the actual album drop.

Jay 46,807 Posted May 30 Author Posted May 30 That cover is not the same one I saw in the Intrada Club Facebook group the other day, the one where two commenters knew about the June 19 date. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10174809966140221&id=95015405220 Did THAT one come from here?
Ricard 2,715 Posted May 30 Posted May 30 EDIT: The cover on the Intrada FB group DOES indeed come from here, and it's an enhanced version of the one I used on this page: https://jwfan.com/john-williams-disclosure-day-2026-all-we-know-so-far/
Jay 46,807 Posted May 30 Author Posted May 30 Well anyway I wonder where various sources are getting the June 19th date and the fact that there will be an announcement next week from.

The last time excerpts from the Maestro’s score was used in a trailer for Steven Spielberg’s film was Lincoln. The BFG, The Post and The Fabelmans did not use excerpts from their respective scores for the trailers. Regarding the secret: if it makes you feel better, it’s an awesome secret that will be disclosed soon.😉

Not just Williams. Case in point; I went to Sam Goody and got the JFK release on cassette on my way to the theater to watch JFK, on day of release.
JohnnyD 1,915 Posted May 31 Posted May 31 To my knowledge at least, the soundtrack has always been released around the same time as the film.
LB Makes Stuff 544 Posted May 31 Posted May 31 Mando is the only score I can think of that’s been released early recently. It’s been the norm for many years to release the score album day of or a week after the theatrical release.
