ocelot 445
So he wasn't even attached to it from the start???????Well, it comes out to the same thing then... Who is to score it?
MrScratch 292
I have a feeling Gibson will use very little music in the film, if any. I wouldn't expect a big Rozsa-esque score for this film.
ocelot 445
Yes I think it should be subdued with some original instruments of the region like duduk over a bed of strings... I know exactly...
CYPHER 1
So he wasn't even attached to it from the start???????And yet we still managed to have a 2 page discussion thread on the matter? Well something good came of this misunderstanding in any case Yes I think it should be subdued with some original instruments of the region like duduk over a bed of strings... I know exactly... I agree! By the way, does anyone know whether The Passion is still un-subtitled or did Gibo finally succumb to more rational and realistic pressures? CYPHER - who would've been prepared to tough out an un-translated Aramaic version .
Mr. Breathmask 480
Last thing I heard was that he actually did add subtitles, but don't ask where I did hear it.- Marc

Mr. Breathmask 480
A little digging, and it turns out that report might have been incorrect. I heard it when Gibson organized a special showing for some members of church communities to show that his film was not anti-semetic. It was then reported that subtitles had indeed been added. However, according to IMDB:At several small private screenings for a select group of clerics, subtitles were added, which Gibson intends to remove from the finished version is released.they also say:When this Latin and Aramaic language film was announced, Mel Gibson stated that his intent was to release it without subtitles, letting the performances speak for themselves. However, if it is necessary, subtitles would be added later.IMDB has been known to be wrong (they still have Horner listed as composer, even though he never was attached to the project), but I trust them sooner than my original source (ooh, that sounds important ), which was actually a small article on tv. Time will tell, I guess.BTW, I just saw a teaser. This has got to be an NC-17 film at least! Lots of blood, even in the preview. It does look like an extraordinary piece of filmmaking indeed.(Note that the preview doesn't have subtitles either, although there are only few words spoken).- Marc

Rogue_Leader 2
Horner isn't worthy of such a project nowadays IMO. Horner 10 years ago? Perhaps. Horner 20 years ago? Definately. However, lately this guy's scores have been mediocre at best.
