Just went to the used CD and found a couple of gems:

The Mission - Ennio - for only $6

Star Trek: TMP - 20th Anni. for $13

and the best find of the day.....

Medicine Man for only $7. Been looking for that for a very long time. :sigh:

Also received The Bounty 2 CD in a trade here recently.

Ah, but does it have a big Jerry Goldsmith signature all across the cover?

Marian - whose STTMP is not recent, but special. :)

Who would want a CD with writing on it??

:|

My Star Trek - The Motion Picture LP has the date, "January 1, 1980" written on the inside cover. That's the day my dad bought it for me. He used to write the date of every record purchase on the inside of his records. I grew up thinking everyone did this. Turns out my dad was just a big record collector with strange habits. :)

Neil - who can prove that he owned the Return of the Jedi soundtrack before the movie came out. :(

My dad made my brother and i have Luge lessons in Rangoon as children. Every summer he'd ritually shave our scrotums (you should try it sometime). I grew up thinking everyone did this. Turns out my dad was just a maniac with paedophilic tendencys :baaa: .

Melange - Really should go to bed now, because lack of sleep is starting to show :)

The deluxe version of The Robe, which came in a couple days ago. For one of the greatest scores ever composed, it's somewhat a shame that Varese opted to make this release a very limited one! It's a tremendous improvement over the previous Arista/Fox release, and to finally have "The Crucifixion" in all its splendor makes this a great addition.

I recently bought the Electric Six CD Fire

Yeah it's a great album! Not great as in just a fun collection of pop songs, but great in a deeper sense of the word. Much of this music could accompany a great epic action movie, possibly the upcoming Alexander the Great. The song Gay Bar is a particularly complex and grand work of art. The line "Girl! I've got something to put IN you!" would work well during the battle sequences.

You broke into the varese site. Selected some Cd's, and 2 PREDATORS...and THAT is what greeeaaaves me the most. You bought the last one. Melange is beside himself with grief. He searched for that cd...., from the moment he was born. :?

Witches Of Eastwick- complete bootleg- John Williams

That's a nice boot. Is it the one from Eastwick Records with the barcode on the backside? Isn't that strange, bootlegs with barcodes? I wonder how many copies there are floating around. There seems to be so many of them. I got a bad feeling about this.

You bought the last one.

That's actually possible.

I ordered then on the 30th of November, and the next day Varese's site annpunced that they sold out.

But if you have really been looking for that score all your life you would have ordered straight away when it was first released.

So you don't care about it as much as you say anyway.

Look for it on eBay in a few months/years from now. ;)

Stefancos- gloating.

The Robe (Varese CD Club) - Alfred Newman

I've gotten tons in the past year. I think there's a good chance that I've gotten more new cds this past year than anyone else on these boards. Aside from the 18 I got from Chris, and the 22 I got in recent trades, I bought several essential cds, many of them undeniable classics.

n incomplete list: Edward Scissorhands, The Mask of Zorro, Home Alone 2, The Good the Bad and the Ugly, Tomorrow Never Dies, JFK, Glory, Crimson Tide, Muppet Treasure Island, Crimson Tide, Maverick, Black Hawk Down, Hannibal, Nixon, Nightmare Before Christmas, Batman, The Fugitive, The Omen, Music for a Darkened Theater 1&2, Stepmom, Spacecamp, Lionheart, Invincible, Red Dragon, Die Hard 3, First Knight, Poseidon Adventure/ Conrack/ Paper Chase, Parenthood, The Paper, The Untouchables, Ed Wood, A.I., City Slickers, Angela's Ashes, Apollo 13, Star Wars: ANH and Star Wars: RoTJ. And these don't include the ones from Chris.

I'd say that except for a couple- all are splendid additions.

I'm right now particulaly fond of my most recent additions: Tomorrow Never Dies, Ed Wood, Muppet Treasue Island, Maverick, Hannibal and JFK.

But if you have really been looking for that score all your life you would have ordered straight away when it was first released.

I dont actually know how long it had been on offer. I missed any news of it being released. Infact i had no idea at all that it had been released until i came back from travelling. Then i did see it on the site fairly recently and admittedly did'nt buy it straight away as i was initially cringing at the thought of the price they were asking for the privelege . I held back because i had no idea their stock was even low. If i'd known, then i perhaps would of snapped it up quick. When i visited, it still said 3000 copies, but they literally must of been swept out of stock in a mad rush by buyers or something. Because when i went back again not long after the initial visit to the site, it was suddenly now out of stock. I'd missed it by a matter of days.

So you don't care about it as much as you say anyway.

That is true. Not the end of the world. It's a score from my teen years as i watched the movie a lot. It would of been nice to own, but admittedly i still dont know if i would of payed such money for it. Varese's "limited editions" are an expensive trap for suckers in a way. The urgency factor makes some people buy them due to "panic" factor.

P.S : My post above is just dialogue from Conan the Barbarian....Thulsa Dooms speech..hehehe

Look for it on eBay in a few months/years from now. ;)

It's already appearing a lot on Ebay, and going for a lot of $$$$$.

And the sellers are all people like you who bought multiple copies.

Well my brother just got from London bringing gifts - a copy of The Five Sacred Trees no less, which I have long coveted but never would've bought myself since I don't shop on the internet (and can find it nowhere else). I haven't had a chance to listen to Johnny's work yet but I hope I can oneday say I love it :music:.

Also I picked up a cheap copy of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets a few weeks back and I'm very happy I did too. It's such a fun and enjoyable listen, especially with the number of tracks that are arranged like concert pieces e.g. "Fawkes the Phoenix," "Dobby the House Elf," "The Chamber of Secrets" etc. :D

And if all goes according to plan I should be able to add the soundtrack to The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King to this listen of "splendid additions" early next year.
