Tell that to folks at Mugglenet Forums who insist William Ross wrote the entire score.

I like that site, but when it comes to music, most posters there wouldn't know Strauss from Rammstein.

At least they're linking to JWFan.net. ;)

New GOF footage: Yule Ball and more!

downloadable new Goblet of Fire footage from mugglenet.com

With Dutch commentary. LOL

K.M.Who thought the sight of Williams clapping Howard Shore's victory in 02 with his conductor's baton in one hand was very sad.

So did I. The look on his face said 'Ah well. I really thought I had a shot at it this year. Ah well'.

After Williams kicked Doyle out of Stepmom

Wasn't Doyle let go after he was diagnosed with cancer?

That's the first time I've heard it told that way. And from what I've been reading for years, he did write a score for Stepmom, which was rejected and replaced when Williams came on board.

I recall hearing that Doyle wrote the score as he was recovering from cancer, and it helped his recovery, getting back to work. Supposedly, JW loved the film so much that he had messrs. Gorfaine and Schwartz convince Mr. Columbus to give Doyle, also a client, the proverbial shaft, and hire their favorit client instead. Though Doyle doesn't appear to bare ill-will towards JW, and has been full of praise about him before and since, one would assume that being fired while recovering from a life threatening ailment by everyone's favorite composer wouldn't leave one with too many positive thoughts on said composer. So either the story is BS, or Doyle is full of BS when saying he loves JW.

Why would Williams want to score Stepmom so badly?

He occaisionaly shows remarkabley bad taste in movies. Usually he's spot on, but I've never heard him be more passionate about scoring a film, so I guess it hit a nerve.

The Dutch clip shows some good stuff. It also seems to reinforce some fears I have for the movie, but I will reserve passing judgement until I see the film (or at least until I can't bare it any longer).

That footage on Veritaserum and Mugglenet is actually ALMOST exactly what the trailer, due to come out on Friday, will be like. Not that great of a trailer besides of all the stuff it shows - I like that.

This has been discussed in depth here. The conclusion is that Williams Ross didn't compose anything and his role on COS besides conducting(apparently) is rather obscure. The complete written score indicates that Williams composed all the cues, and my ears tell me that too.The main theory is that whatever William Ross did initially was rescored by John Williams later, evidenced by rushed cues such as the Quidditch music which is almost identical to the Coruscant chase of AotC,obviously a last moment thing. We also had an insider here that told us so.Ross credit as arranger was kept to avoid professionnal problems, whatever.

John Williams was initially supposed to write 40 minutes of music,as he said in interviews, but then it turns out the whole OST is entirely composed by him(OST credit is ALL music composed by John Williams). If he was supposed to only write the themes and a few action cues, then it doesn't explain the AotC Coruscant Chase transcription in the score for the Quiddich Match.Surely Williams wouldn't do that if he had an adaptor of his music to write the score, and surely Williams Ross wouldn't be allowed himself to life a cue from Attack of the Clones. So JW had to use this music at the last moment because he had no time to write something else and it "fit".The same with Lucius Malfoy's theme which is the AotC mystery motif.Again that's JW pressed for time and not William ross coincidentally writing a theme from AotC.

Thanks for the information! I already guessed something like that because the score sounds vintage Williams to me too. Actually I like COS the most of all Potter-scores.

Hi!

I was on holiday and after that started to study for my exams in september so I haven't written in a loooong time. But I have been reading you!

I recorded this today, and since nobody has uploaded it yet, I did it. It's the new footage in SVCD quality, a bit btchered by some awful journalist.

Enjoy it http://personales.ya.com/mywebsite/GoF.avi

Sorry its sooooo big (19 Mb) but its long and good quality. If anyone wants pics I can take them from the original (DVD quality).

I've downloaded a smaller file version. There's no JW themes at all in the music.Could be an indication that JW's themes are out for GoF,since even the trailers for PoA had other music, but Williams quotes also.

http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/lo/features/7019544.html ...New Patrick Doyle interview. "biggest project yet"... Blah... And he says he's written a "zillion themes" for it. Written a zillion? Why not write just a million and then use a few of the other million that Mr. Williams already wrote? It better not ALL be new music. Better have Hedwig's theme in there or else.

I've heard good things about Doyle. I think I'll see the movie first, though.

Although actually, I saw the other three films before hearing the CD as well (I ordered PoA before the film was released, but it didn't arrive until after).

The journalist even mentions that there is a new "bande sonnare" (or something; it means soundtrack by the way) and she mentions something like "vocalise". You hear a sample of it - a solo female soprano.

It will probably use Hedwig for the opening title. I like how Doyle dismissed that trio as "crap". GoF looks great, but I don't like how Krum is dancing with Hermione.

I didn't mention it here cause it's too ridiculous.

She says that there is a new soundtrack and that it comes from a vocalist of an extinct british band. She also adds that the young actors chose it. She doesn't know about the existance of Doyle. I bet she doesn't know about the existance of Williams.

What we don't know, at least me, is where that music comes from. There is like a march and then the female solo. Anyone knows whre this comes from?

I think she meant that the vocalist comes from a former British band (Annie Lennox or someone like that) and that the actors chose the artist to perform the "singing".

That's not bad for rock. ... They got a few chords/notes wrong, though. Pity, it would have been a nice guitar solo at the beginning.

Not really. It has every generic 80's style metal solo technique, and it doesn't even flow properly. It actually seems like a big mess. And yes, the supporting chords are incorrect or missing at some points which is highly annoying.

Tim, who believes John Williams is spinning in his grave.

That is awesome! Anybody noticed how similar the original "Hedwig's Theme" sounds to "Once Upon A November" from Anastacia (the movie, not the singer)

That was one of the comments off Mugglenet. Is this true, i hear no resemblance but do any of you?

So here we have the entire trailer, but again someone is talking through it. I hate that this keeps happening. When are we going to get a decent version of this trailer?

The new HP trailer has pretty good music. I'm talking about the international trailer, which you can find in the NEWS section off www.Mugglenet.com . It sounds pretty interesting. anyone know where the music is from?

It's from the Magic Box people, the same people that made the PoA trailer music. There's a faint Hedwig's Theme at the end,so all hope is not lost we'll hear some Williams themes in the film.

Well,if all Williams themes are out of GOF,maybe Warner would tell the trailer dudes not to include any of Williams music from now on.

GOF has to have some Williams themes in it, otherwise the film won't be as good as the first three HP films.

I just noticed the tiny bit of Hedwig's Theme at the end of this trailer. I would hope, for continuity purposes, that they would use some of JW's themes, but I don't mind new stuff. Look at all the new stuff we got in POA.

The music from the new trailer is some of the best music I have ever heard. I hope I dont get banned for saying this but this guy might do a better job then Williams at Harry Potter.
