There's no need to recommend this album, Neil. It's such a good score that all who know of it and want it likely already possess it, but there are a few obstacles that preclude me from obtaining it, and it's neither money nor strong will...

:)

The Fury is a magnificent and powerful work from the Maestro. The Main Titles send shivers down my spine very time I listen to it. Such power and relentless fury! I purchased it the moment it came out as a Collectors version though I had bought the older version about a year before. I'm glad to own it.

( I don' t own a credit card which tends to complicate the matters a bit when I purchase scores from the net.)

I ordered from a German record company Colosseum Schallplatten site www.colosseum.de. It is connected somehow to the Varese Sarabande. I bought my Home Alone 2 Collector's version and Fury from there. There you can pay directly to their account without credit card. You should check that out.

I have it already, plus the original (Yeah, Justin 8O ). This is one of the few occasions of listening Williams doing a genre that borders in horror. There are genius cues of fantastic tension and wonderful 'family' themes. Shame on any jwfan that doesn't have it

There is. If there wasn't, it should have sold out months ago! :|

Colosseum is the German distributor for Varese. They still have copies of The Robe left, too, or at least had when I ordered it along with the Goldsmith set last Friday.

Marian - who shall eat and drink only bread and water for a long time now.

I got plenty of bread and water, but I don't have $130, as I just went on an Ebay shopping spree.

Damn Varese! Why the hell did they have to release only 1500 copies! I'll never get it, as there are fewer than a hundred left as of right now.

While I feel sorry for those that miss out on these CDs, I'm happy they sell out because that shows a demand for them and might just encourage other studios to open their vaults to FSM, Varese, Intrada, etc etc

Better yet. Why don't we form a comittee to decide who is up to listening what score? If they aren't, we'll take the score away from them and give it to somebody worthy of owing it.

I'm not up to listening to "Sleepers". Will to trade it off for the double-disc "The Fury"...!

Oh, so now you say it's the Goldsmith set.....in a thread about The Fury. 8O

Neil

Marian was talking about the goldsmith set. Note the bread and water reference.

The comitee disagrees, Yoda. We shall send you your Patriot CD in time. We also expect your Jurassic Park and TESB CD's on our mail soon. Kindly see that you are prompt. You don't want us to send Stefancos over there. Not too nice, you see.

They are written by Nick Redman and up to his usual standards. I don't know if you should read them though, as they'll ruin the ending for you. Maybe you should rent the DVD now.

Neil - Fewer than 499 copies left

Pino Donaggio's dense and lyrical score adds a mesmerizing dimension to the increasingly gory proceedings...

Quote from a guy at Amazon.com...

Or we could all chip in and get one. Then after they are sold out. Sell it on Ebay and give the profit to JWFan! 8O

Justin -Who acctually doesn't think it's a bad idea. Other than the fact you'd have to trust people. :)

First some background...

I currently own about 10 John Williams Soundtracks (Harry Potter 1 & 2, Jurassic Park 1 & 2 (and 3), CMIYC, The Patriot, Jaws, E.T., Indiana Jones 1 & 3 etc.) After reading this thread I decided to get The Fury (deluxe edition) from Varese, even though I haven't seen the film or heard the soundtrack. Well I ended up buying something else too... :)

Here are the details of my order:

vsd-5280 -- Presumed Innocent -- John Williams (1 item)

VSD-5298 -- River, The -- John Williams (1 item)

vsd-5255 -- Stanley & Iris -- John Williams (1 item)

vcl-0702-1011-2 -- The Fury: The Deluxe Edition -- John Williams (1 item)

vcl-1102-1014-2 -- Home Alone 2: Lost In New York - The Deluxe Edition -- John Williams (1 item)

VSD-5540 -- Cowboys, The -- John Williams (1 item)

Great start! I know exactly what it's like- I had like 5 Williams CDs, than I got 9 off Amazon.com, and it's been growing ever since, and now, less than two years later I have a very large collection (And I only got Presumed Innocent and Stanely & Iris two weeks ago!).

Great start! I would also highly recommend that (when your wallet allows) you add Superman, some Star Wars, & Close Encounters to the mix.

BTW, I still need to pick up The Fury. I'd better do that before it is too late.
