According to scifi.com the new villian in Star Wars Episode III has been announced.

Star Wars: Episode III producer Rick McCallum told the official Star Wars Web site that fans will get a glimpse of the prequel's new enemy, Gen. Grievous, in an upcoming episode of the animated Star Wars: Clone Wars series. "In Attack of the Clones, we saw that former Jedi Count Dooku was the political leader behind the Separatists' movement and instigator of the Clone Wars," McCallum told the site. "In Episode III, we'll meet Gen. Grievous, the military leader of all the Separatist armies. He's part alien and part robot. Grievous is a master strategist and the greatest hand-to-hand Jedi killer the galaxy has ever known."

In Chapter 20 of the Clone Wars series, the finale set to air April 8, a group of Jedi Knights is being decimated by a seemingly indestructible new enemy. By episode's end, the Jedi and viewers both will understand the power of Gen. Grievous, the site reported. Ten new episodes of Star Wars: Clone Wars begin on March 26.

Why can't Lucas seem to come up with original names why not call him General Impecunious or General Iniquitous.

Justin -Not very impressed.

Not much more than an official confirmation. It's been around TFN for months.

And that they're going to use him in Clone Wars sounds like another fan-milking scheme to me.

- Marc, who'll just download the episodes like last time.

Hm. Perhaps it did come off a little harsh. I didn't mean it like that. It's just that a stunt like this is an obvious attempt to get more people to watch the Star Wars franchise.

I wish they'd spend their time making good movies, instead of figuring out how to screw the fans.

Meh, enough with the bashing already. I'm moving on.

BTW, I can't actually see the series on TV here, because there's no regular station that airs them.

since there are over 2500 shots of special effects, I can only guess that Gen. Grevious will also be an animated character, with about as much life as a flat surface.

yeah- Darth Sidius and Darth Tyranus- with names like that, I wonder if they're bad guys?

Thanks for clarifying that. Two years later and I still had no clue what he was doing in that movie other than providing a fan boy wet dream of having Dracula/Saruman swordfight Yoda.

There was one scene in AOTC, don't know if it was filmed, during Obi-Wan's visit to the Jedi archives where some of Dooku's origins were supposed to be explained.

Of course Greivous will no doubt join the line of wasted villians in the prequels.

Speaking of Dracula, on the AOTC DVD I had to laugh when they put the vampire teeth on the Yoda mannequin during rehersals for the duel. I bet Lee wished his light saber was real so he could run it thru George. To me he didn't appear that amused by it.

Yeah, the potential of a great CGI character destroyed by a bad script.

General Grievous???

That a good term to describe what the prequels have caused amongst the intelligent and discriminate portion of the Star Wars fanbase.

So any fan that enjoys the prequels, like myself, is unintelligent and indiscriminate in your opinion?

hmm... wanna help out George? I got some really amazing suggestions!

Darth Sullen

Well, they have an amusing touch in swedish at least ;)

General Grievous is way too subtle, I was hoping for something like Darth Evil-Man or Lord Bad-Guy.

LOL

My point exactly!

I mean Lucas JESUS CHRIST MAN!

Can you come up with something more corny than that?

::Learns actual name of Episode 3::

Oh ...... apparently you can! :)

One of the things that puzzles me is that we already have 3 bad guys for Episode III if you count Anakin. Why do we need another one? Maybe he's a minor character....

Justin -Who basically has no anticipation for Episode III other than the score.

Only if JW scores it. How well do we know Lucas...?

Anyway, more bad guys or not, even a billion-member army of baddies to the bone won't thrill me if the story won't.

Yes it was much better than the duel at the end of the second one. Where the Yoda who couldn't even walk without a stick suddenly starts doing back flips and summersaults.

I guess you're right about the unintelligent thing then. ;)

I suppose Christopher Lee and the score are pretty good in that scene.

Justin -Who really hated the scene after Lucas compared Yoda to Ms. Piggy.

By the time that scene came on, I had already lost interest in the film and nothing short of everyone being killed and thus ending the series early could have brought me back.

The whole theatre was roaring with laughter when that scene came on. I think nobody really knew what to make of it at first. But I too feel it's a guilty pleasure to watch that scene. It's just so funny. ;)

I think he tried to explain how Yoda solves swordfighting matters. We all already knew that he was one of the greatest masters of the Force and so on, but how was he to make a feared enemy in combat... I think it's lousy though, although it's also my ultimate guilty pleasure of the film.

It's just so funny.

And this is a good thing? How about Anakin and Obi-Wan's duel should that be funny too? How about Obi-Wan "moon's" anakin when he falls in the lava pit? 8O

Justin -Who thinks the only thing Lucas knows how to do now is humor and he's pretty crappy at that too. ;)

No, it's funny as in "so bad it's funny". ;)

What puzzles me even more is that supposedly there was only supposed to be two Sith at one time.

A apprentice and a master.

Yet now it seems like as if they have Sith Lords coming out of the woodwork.

Sheeesh!

Ahhh well ...... this just all sounds pretty corny.

I thought Episode III was supposed to be the darkest SW of them all? This sure dont sound like it. :|

So far we don't know anything about the plot so I don't know if I could agree with that. But also I don't think General Grievous is a Sith. Sidius is a sith and so is Dooko. That makes 2 if you don't could Anakin. :|

Yes, that is my firm belief.

So be it. I highly doubt my level of intelligence will suddenly drop sharply because of your opinion. However, I will ask you this: If the fans who dislike the prequels are an exclusively intellectual group, as you believe, why is it that many of their number incessantly whine and stamp their feet like immature children because the movies aren?t unequivocally as they wished them to be?

Intelligence has nothing to do with it. They are just unbelievably bad films when it comes to dialogue/script/storytelling and acting (Lucas makes no effort directing the actors). All this is quite apparent, especially in Attack of the Clones. It requires no brain to see it.

It requires no brain to see it.

Acctually it takes massive amounts of brain power to translate the images your eye sees into meaningful symbols of communication. So....as you can see your statment is clearly incorrect. ;)

Justin -Who cannot believe the brain power it took to place this strings of symbols into a cohesive order. The movement of the fingers....the thoughts...sounds....sights.... :)

Hes not a Sith? The statement above calls him the best "hand to hand Jedi Killer in the galaxy".

Hand to Hand would seem to imply he uses is proficient with a Lightsaber, which would be a neccessity to kill Jedi up close.

Sure makes it sound like a Sith Lord.

Yeah but a Sith named Grievous? That would suck. I think Lucas has proven himself to know when something sucks and when it doesn't.

Justin - Of course Vader was kind of a droid....more machine than man at least. :)

General Grievous is no sith. He's a droid.

HE IS NOT A DROID!

It says right in the description above:

He's part alien and part robot.

That means he is part organic lifeform. So he CANNOT be a friggin droid.

More then likely they mean he is like Vader. Part-organic lifeform, part-machine.

Maybe Grievous planted his droid parts into the almost lifeless body of Anakin. Maybe it's Grievous who saved Anakin! "Darth Sidious, may I present you my latest creation. Darth Vaderious!" Ta taaaaa!

I can't think of anything that could be more Greivous than that plot idea! ;):);)

Ah but Rogue, think about the name for a second. General Grievous. See it already? It's, "He who grieves". A coincidence? I think not! He feels sorrow for almost lifeless Anakin and rescues him.

I a recend web doc in the oficial starwars website, they said something about of how Grievous is a kind a precursor to Darth Vader, in terms of the part organic, part mechanic thing.
