What's on your DVD wish list?

What's on your DVD wish list? Of all existing or not yet available titles, what is one day surely to become a part of your DVD collection? I'm talking about movies that are essential(!) for you to own and not titles that are merely "fun to have". Please, list only "the sure things".

Here are a few of my personal omissions that I plan to get sooner or later:

Unforgiven (1992). Clint Eastwood, director.

The Heiress (1949). William Wyler, director.

Room With A View (1986). James Ivory, director. Waiting for a decent version.

Blade Runner (1982). Ridley Scott, director. There's a comprehensive 3-disc set being put on hold due to legal reasons.

The Flight of the Phoenix (1965). Robert Aldrich, director.

Wages of Fear (1953). Henri-Georges Clouzot, director. Amazing French film about a few trucks transporting nitro-glycerine. Has to be seen to believed!

My Father's Glory/My Mother's Castle (1990). Yves Robert, director. Probably my all time favorites.

Star Wars (1977). George Lucas, director. Original version only.

The Empire Strikes Back (1980). Irvin Kershner, director. Original version only.

Prince of the City (1981). Sidney Lumet, director.

THX 1138 (1971). George Lucas, director.

Schindler's List (1993). Steven Spielberg, director.

Duel (1971). Steven Spielberg, director.

That's it for now. I'm sure I left more than a few out.

Let's see...

- 24 - Season Two will arrive in a few days.

- Futurama - Season Two to Four will be next.

- The original versions of The Star Wars Trilogy are supposed to be coming my way too...

- And then in September the SE's will be added to my collection.

- Then there's every new HP film that'll be made.

- The RotK regular and extended version.

- Still have to get Ghostbusters II.

- Pulp Fiction,

- Reservoir Dogs (there's a DTS version coming out soon, but I'm hoping on a new transfer).

- Further seasons of The Simpsons (bring them on already!!!).

- New X-Men movies.

- The Matrix Revolutions

As you can see, I'm a sucker for sequels.

- Marc, wants much, much more...

Nice to see your lists. Some titles can act as reminders, others as fine suggestions.

I forgot a very important one.

The Magnificent Ambersons (1942). Orson Welles, director. The so-called sequel on Citizen Kane. If only they found the missing 60 or so minutes for the DVD release. But even mutilated as it is, it remains a stunning work. This guy is such a genius.

I also wanted to include it- but it hasn't been released yet on DVD.

Then by all means, go ahead! I said of "all existing or not yet available titles". So let me hear them.

I didn't notice that part. Then add Sugarland Express to the list- it's probably Spielberg's least seen and most unique film.

Well, the original Star Wars Trilogy would be very nice.

But I also would put my hands on Home Improvement(Tim Allen), if it would be avaible on DVD. I like the show.

Nemesis :)

In a totally but not completely unrelated way, THX 1138 and Duel are playing in a local theatre next month. Can't wait.

:)

Concerning DVD's:

Star Wars is an absolute must, original versions of course.

X-Files, I'm missing three seasons (I don't include 8 and 9 though).

Guns of Navarone, definitely.

Sugarland, Empire of the Sun, Duel, A.I. and Catch me if you can.

1 : The Hill (Sean Connery) - Still no DVD, and the VHS is rare. My copy is just a TV recording.

2 : The Wicker Man (Christopher Lee, Edward Woodward) - On DVD. One day i'll pay out for it.

3 : Life of Brian (U.S Criterion edition) - The U.S version DVD, has commentarys and other extras.

Um...that's probably it for now. I very rarely get DVD's anyway. Too expensive over here.

That's right, The Hill (1965) Sidney Lumet, director. Now that's a long time ago. It's Sean Connery, but not as you know him. ;)

Lawrence of Arabia. David Lynch, director

:)

I pressume you mean David Lean.

I'm frightened to think what Lawrence of Arabia would have been like if Lynch actually did direct it. Would the Arabs be fighting with sound-amplified weapons?! Chhhaaaa! :|

Well, there goes all my self-respect.

only 10 discs?

And I'd like a group commentary. Williams, Goldsmith, Bernstein, Newman, Zimmer, Elfman, Horner and a couple of more- "ya Horner, that's how it's done. It's called o-r-g-i-n-a-l-i-t-y. That's right Jimmy- that is a choir. It's number 34 on your synth."
