I concur, GOOD GOD!!! Though I wish there was new music. Trelawney look hilarious, and Buckbeak looks great. The dementors are more fluid than I expected, but it didn't show enough to judge. The punch at the end made me giddy. Damn, that girl is something!

Wow!! I'm getting more excited about this movie with every passing day. I can't wait.

Was that a brief snippet of electronic action music (ala Crimebusters or Setting The Trap) that I heard during the Knight-Bus sequence, or do my ears decieve me?

I don't recognise the music from 0.00 to 1.11,or is it some creepy cue from PS or CoS that I don't remember?

K.M.Who rarely forgets a Williams cue.

That particular passage got me pretty giddy, too, Frank. It makes me wonder -- is Williams actually going to start getting adventurous with his music for the Harry Potter series? So far, the music has been, to me, enervating in its traditionality. "That's cool, Johnny, but haven't you said all of this before?" I want him to do something new, something risky or genre-defying, and yet still maintain an ambience that is distinctly, unmistakably Harry Potter. That's what I'm hoping for in the 'Azkaban' score.

I wondered about the Knight Bus music too, it sounded cool but unfamiliar. I would love for Williams to try something a little techno like that for PoA (used sparingly and tastefull, of course). In any case, I'm sure he won't disappoint, for me at least, and I hope you end up liking the score, Alan!

Love the trailer! I don't want to speak to soon, but it looks like the hiring Alfonso Cuaron to take over the reigns of director from Columbus has proven to be a very wise move. It looks amazing!

So you want it to sound like Don Davis or Hans Zimmer would score it...please no,I like my Williams traditionnal. But since this movie is beeing somewhat marketed as a trendy movie about teen "angst" in some regards,i wouldn't be surprised to hear some technoy cues, but I hope very little.

Other than that some of the music in the trailer sounds like some of the darker cues in ToD.

K.M.Trepid about those few techno bars in the Knight Bus clip.

Of course not KM, I said nothing at all like that. That's almost insulting. I would love to hear something in the vein of "Setting the Trap," "Flying" from Peter Pan, or "Escape from the Dragon" from Shrek for the Potter series. That's what I mean by techno, and it can be awesome when used wisely. Open up your mind and don't put words in my mouth.

I'd say that first stuff isn't JW. It kind of seems like somone wrote it to try to fit the trailer, only the pacing is really off and the orchestrations pretty amateur. The techno stuff is brief and hard to hear over the noise but, from what I can hear of it, it feels too cheap for a HP movie. Is this what the Magic Box people were supposed to do?

Great trailer, though. I feel even more strongly now that the new director is likely to give the film a more stylized and imaginaitive interpretation. That should mean a more interesting score.

Sounds like Williams creepy orchestrations to me,listen when Ron put his hand on the train window...

I am not sure if I like the way the dementors look...because they don't look like anything.

Interesting you single that part out because its about the only portion that gave me pause as to whether its JW. I still conclude it isn't because of everthing else. If I'm wrong and its JW, than I'm certain it was edited into the trailer from the recording sessions for the movie because, again, as underscore this has really bad pacing, texture, etc. It just doesn't click like a JW scored trailer would.

Well I had to work at B&N tonight so I am just now catching up.

All I can say is :P

wow.

the movie is still a long ways away, but that is one awesome preview.

Hermione enraged is great.

Buckbeak was .... 8O

wow

Harry's voice filled with anguish as he says "I hope he finds me, cause when he does, I'll be ready"

Trelawney perfectly captured

Aunt Marge,

and the finale scene of the preview, well if that doesn't get you ready, you don't want to see this movie.

Yes,It doesn't sound like Williams sat down and scored the trailer specifically, but I think the music is probably from the recording sessions.

Yeah. Fugue-like parts in film scores are way too rare these days anyway.

Please do. No one should feel like they can't state their opinion.

Just be prepared for a backlash.

It's well known, but nobody really needs/wants to hear it. Plus your opinion on the matter is void as you enjoyed the first two movies.

Excuse me? Joe and myself also enjoyed the first two films as did others on this board. I suppose that means our opinions are void too?

Who's the person standing in the background in the final "Expecto patronum" scene? Hermione?

I can't think of who else it would be other than Hermione. I have the still frame up on max resolution and it somewhat looks like her.

I think he sounds magnificent, an improvement over Harris' wheezing (no disrespect intended).

Ray Barnsbury

I agree here, it seemed like Dumbledore aged 30 years between SS and CoS. Gambon is really excellent in the snippets we've seen.

Link not working.....

Justin -Who is ready to see the freaking trailer. :nono:

try this:

can also set quicktime settings to cache the movie, then find it in your temporary internet files so you have a hard copy on your hd instead of streaming.

ok then.

Like every other trailer this one just proves how bad the movie is going to be.

First the dementor looks like black liquid floating in the air.

Second Snape is pulling down a projection screen (I don't think i have to go furhter into that)

Third. That stupid head is making jokes.

Fourth there is a huge clock which i can't rememebr in the book

Some other stuff too but i can't recall at this moment.

Hmm. Three of those four things were probably done by Stephen Kloves...who wrote the first two movies as well. I suppose he'd have written them just the same if Columbus were directing this one.

Marian - who DID wonder about the "projection screen". :nono:

I really can't think of anything to say. If I didn't know better, I'd think you were making a very, very sarcastic joke, which would be funny . . . but since I know you're serious, it's just sad. :nono: Now I really don't expect you to like this film any more than you do yourself.

The dementors look awesome.

Doesn't mean he's using an overhead projector - clearly he doesn't, because as you well know, electronic devices do not work at Hogwarts.

The head is fine.

The huge clock is awesome, and what really matters in that scene is what Harry is doing. Which by the looks of it, is done perfectly.

Don't be smart on me, Joe. I know that Hermione is there with Harry in the Book, I justwondered because the person in the scene looks... funny. But I guess it's just the pic that is distorted.

You know, that's a nasty plot hole that has been bothering me for a while. I believe Harry has a watch. Or at least someone has, because you need to know what time it is to get to class in time. But does it work? Or do they have a special magic watch with their uniforms? Or is time a magical thing, and are things that show time (watches) not affected by all the other spells? Hmm...

As for the changes... I'm thinking this is more the kind of creativity JKR might have wanted with the movies. If I'm not mistaken, first choice for directing was Terry Gilliam, a director who's not a stranger to bizarre films and items. I like that they've given this one a little twist, whether Kloves or Cuarón is responsible for it.

What should it look like then?

Second Snape is pulling down a projection screen (I don't think i have to go furhter into that)

And the movie will be "bad" because of this? Please explain how the entire film can be bad from one prop.

Third. That stupid head is making jokes.

You really hate that head. Was your dog killed by a shrunken head? Again, how is this convincing you that the film will be bad?

Fourth there is a huge clock which i can't rememebr in the book

Yes, huge clocks automatically make a movie bad.

You've listed every reason why you won't like this movie based off of maybe 5 minutes of footage (some of it possibly repeated), and most of the reasons are very shallow. Now, I'll accept that you don't like Cuaron for this film, but beyond that, you have not been able to articulate why you have such a deep rooted hatred of this movie and everything in it. If you hate it so much in advance, are you even going to bother with the soundtrack, or will you buy it just to tell us how lousy it's going to be based now off of John's music.

And as for an HP film having "cheap CGI" (the way you described the still photo of Buckbeak) the first film had some pretty rotten effects (even the film makers acknowledged this) but its still a great movie.

In the end you are allowed to dislike this film, but please, can you back up those arguments a little with something a bit more thought out?

Neil
