BTW how many women do we have on this board again?

Is it just Ren now? Because that would be really sad if that was all the women we could muster. Not even enough to make it plural.

I'm lucky, the man in my life is also big fan of film music and JW. ;)

On the old Groovy Yak's (Tim Perrine's) board, there was a Sharon (Sharen?) who posted reasonably often.

Not many folks have hung around since that time...I wonder where they've all gone. Hector, Roald, PBL, Frank Lehman (who posts here using an alias), KM, and just a handful of others that I'm forgetting have remained...

Its not like a creature which spens most of its time licking its own privates could possibly blame you for masturbating. Then again that describes alot of creatures.

Including some humans. ;)

Hmmm...

Well, my fiance likes it, but can't get into it too much. My goal is to properly show her all of the original Star Wars and Indiana Jones movies. She heasn't seen any of them. She's seen E.T., the three Harry Potters, and most of Williams scores films since the late 90's, but pays no attention to film scores. I played her some when I was staying there, but liking instrumental music just takes more time than lyrical music. It seems that way for the majority of people, and seemingly for women especially.

My brother's ex-girlfriends have been hit-and-miss. Two of his ex's got into some film scores thanks to me. Noteably A.I. and Braveheart, which I made them extended 80 minute CD albums of each. They actually enjoyed them a great deal and listened to them repeatedly. For people's initial liking of a film score, they have to like a movie or parts of it and go from there. It's not very likely that they will like it beforehand. We are different bnecause we are fans of the composers and conditioned to the music. The layman is not.

I've also noticed that Horner gets to women more than any other composer. Williams and film scores in general don't appeal that much to most women. Note the male-to-female ratio here and other film score message boards for example. The Hornershrine had more female posters than any of them (although I haven't visited that joint in years).

Oddly, my brother's ex-gf had a good looking friend who was big-time into Williams and liked me quite a bit as well (this was before I met my fiance and after I was dumped by my previous girlfriend, so people don't think I'm a two-timer or anything). Sadly after my bro broke up with her, none of us got along too well... especially with added strong political and social disagreements that outweighed similar music tastes. She was cute too... Had huge hooters, although I'm more a leg-and-butt guy myself. :music:

(However I'm an oddity in this regard... I actually prefer average-to-small breasts over huge ones, and I absolutely and completely DESPISE fake ones! LOL).

PS- Awww! Steef those kittens are so damn cute! One of them looks like my Carlee!

I was originally going to vote NO because my wife hates ALL my music not just JW. But there are two scores in particular that she absolutely detests and has threatened to destroy them if I play them while she is in the house. Unfortunately they happen to be two of the best scores ever:

Jaws and Superman

But on another note she'd rather I visit jwfan.net over porn any day. Maybe she doesn't hate the music as much as she hates porn. Pity :music: errrr....about the music that is! LOL

Actually after reading all the posts here I think she'd rather I DID look at porn. ;)

Do you hear sighs of despair every time you pull out a JW c.d. to play it?

Would your Wife/Girlfriend rather you download Internet Porn rather than waste time at the JW fan.Net.

Are you tired of beeing called obsessive?

Has turning on the car stereo become grounds for a major battle?

BTW, guys, not everybody in the world believes in premarital and/or extramarital sex. I personally believe that within a marriage is the wisest, and best and safest place for it emotionally and physically.

And I agree with Stefan on this... being single sucks. If I have any power over it, and God-willing I never give my fiance any reason to leave me, I'm never goin' back again. ;)

Hey! Don't forget me! Unless I'm mistaken, I posted there maybe once or twice via a friend's computer!

But not until I got my own PC in July 2000 did I start posting with any regular basis or name, and one of the first places was right here. Er, well, on the site's previous MB incarnations. :)

Hmm... perhaps we should start a new thread? How did you find this place? I remember finding at a friend's PC in 1999 because Ricard posted unreleased TPM mp3s! (WAHOO!) Forgive me if it's already been done.

Nobody said that, but as you are in (a part of) the medical field should know, it just isn't as safe emotionally and physically. Monogomous is always the best way to go. If it can be done, it's safest that way.

I'm just stating my case because everyone's throwing around the other side of the argument like it's the only acceptable way. Besides, you're the one who put girlfriend/wife. How are the ladies supposed to answer? ;)

That's not what KM said.

If you are in a long term, monogomous relationshiop then the healthrisk are the same as when you are married.

Sex, is the worst reason ever go get married.

Also, using condoms reduced the risks considerably.

most guys stay away from me because of the unintentional john williams shrine in my locker. (i.e.- cds, my autographed picture of jw, and my baton. yeah... i guess it would look weird to a non music student...)

Dammit old man, somehow I knew you were gonna' get involved. ;)

Agreed. Why so against marriage then?

Sex, is the worst reason ever go get married.

Straw-man argument. I never made that point.

But also, why buy the cow if you can get the milk for free?

Also, using condoms reduced the risks considerably.

Reduced; yes. Considerably; no.

1. Many STD's are not stopped by condoms because some aren't spread by the limited area that the condom covers. For example, HPV (that has been linked to infertility, prostate cancer in men, and cervical cancer in women) and genital warts are transmitted by skin-to-skin contact around the condom. These diseases have spread uncontrollably in the last few years.

2. Some STDs, such as the dreaded HIV virus for example, are so small that hundreds of them side by side can fit through the microscopic holes in the condom's structural makeup. Reduced risk; yes, complete protection; far from.

3. Many people hate using them and/or don't use them correctly, and mis-using and/or not using them once stops any benefit of using them every single other time.

4. STD spread have also grown since the advent of condoms. More people have sex thanks to condoms, and although they are safer than NOT using, the only true safe sex is within a completely monogamous* relationship where both the man and woman are completely devoted to each other. In fact, they can't even use the term "safe sex" anymore to describe condoms because of the above mentioned facts. I think they are now required to use the term "safer sex." At least here in the USA sinec the late 90's.

Therefore, I repeat:

Reduced; yes.

Considerably; no.

I'm just stating my case because everyone's throwing around the other side of the argument like it's the only acceptable way.

It isn't?

Ah, hilarity.

Besides, you're the one who put girlfriend/wife. How are the ladies supposed to answer? ;)

They have.

Congrats... You have a mind like a steel trap. :)

Hey, aren't you supposed to not really know anything other than your very own existance? Why argue with anything? ;)

*= OK, OK, I corrected the spelling, happy now? LOL

the only safe sex is a completely monotounous (sp?) relationship.

LOL Your point is clear from the rest of your post, but this mis-wording kind of undermines all that. :)

Is it just my imagination or was the word "masturbation" used several times on this topic? If so, cool. I never thought such a word could be used on the hallowed grounds of Hogwarths...I mean the JW Message Board....or even Universal.

I once used the phrase PUSSY GALORE when I described the movie GOLDFINGER to Chairman Mao on a visit to China in the early 70s to promote TOPAZ. He was more interesting in playing with Mrs Mao's pussy than he was in listening to me about how hard it is to kill a person. He hadn't even seen TORN CURTAIN up to that point. I later learned that it was banned due to John Addison's awful score.

Hitch, who will be bringing more gratitutous comments of sex and violence to the board. You HAVE been warned. In bed, no one can hear you scream....except maybe Hugh Heffner.

I think it's pretty dumb that if a marriage doesn't work I'd have to say good-bye to half of my money. What's the point of that? No wonder women want to get married so much. It doesn't work out, they still wind up ahead. "F" that!

the only true safe sex is within a completely monotonous relationship

As pointed out: :)

The sex in that relationship must be really boring.

I've always said this about premarital sex.

It's like buying a new car. You shop around and take them out for test drives, when you find the one you like you drive it around the block a little further to make sure it's really to your liking.

Because you damn sure don't want to get to your wedding night and found out you bought a lemon.....

To further the analogy, what happens if you have never driven a car before? What if your wife/husband hasn't either? How then could you possibly get to your wedding night and even know if you've bought a lemon or not?

And Neil, not all women are leeches. Nor do they all insist upon pre-nuptial agreements. Don't give up on all of us!

I don't want to give up on women, just in the antiquated contract known as marriage.

But marriage works! And what's more, the personal benefits far outweigh anything you might give up to be married. You just have to be reasonably certain it's the right person - and Neil, when you find the woman you can't live without, I think it'll all become clear. It's still a little scary, but I think you'll find that the thought of the rest of your life without her is even more frightening.

Reading that over, it wasn't that convincing. I guess I can't really put it into words. Chris, can you explain it any better?

(BTW, so you'll give me a little credibility and not lump me with the women of whom you spoke so disparagingly.... my husband and I were married without a pre-nup and I am currently the breadwinner of the family.)

This is my second marriage, the first one was a nightmare and a mistake but I did find someone who was worth taking the plunge with again. I was afraid of committing myself after the disaster of the first one but it's been worth it so far.

The right one is out there, trust me. It's even better when they love to test drive as well......8O

I know - this makes me very sad. And I know there are all kinds of reasons why people get divorced... but I do strongly believe it still works. So don't dismiss it as antiquated or a waste of time! Have hope! 8O

I do have hope. I hope to meet a woman that doesn't want to get married. :)

Neil

I'm glad I have.

I also admire Chris for his beliefs and respect his decision.

I would to, if he had, at any point in our friendship, showed any respect for mine.

As someone who has been on both sides of the fence, I can only offer this insight about marriage. It does work, when you are certain about your reasons for wanting to spend your life with someone. Sex, sorry to say, is way down the list. It was a deep and meaningful part of my marriage and produced my beautiful son.

As I have been single again for 11 years, I can tell you that it sucks!!!

Tamara and I shared a bond that I will not likely ever share with another human being again, for the rest of my life. She was my soul mate. That is why we married. And I am not afraid to admit that I was a virgin on our wedding night, and although she was not, I felt as though the gift she gave me was cherished. I grew up in the late 70's and early 80's. Promiscuity was the order of the day and I was constantly bombarded with easy ideals, but I chose (and believe me when I say, not for lack of opportunity) to wait, this was something I decided early in life and have no regrets about. Though, Tamara and I were only together for seven years, I still think back fondly on every moment of that time. We fought, as young couples do. We struggled, especially when our son was born. But, we decided that difficulties would bring us closer to each other and in the end, the commitment we made to each other far out-weighed any problems we had. I don't know what might have happened by now, as I come upon what would have been our 18th anniversary, (June 17th) I think we still would have been a strong family.

These are the reasons for being married, everyone. You know that someone has always got your best interests in their heart. Someone who will always tell you when you are wrong, stand beside you when you are right and never puts their selfish interests over the best thing you share.

Sex is about number 10,000 on the list of importance.

And, to stay on topic, Tamara was not as big of a fan of John Williams as I, though she enjoyed some of his music. But, if I came home from work, and heard Basil Poledouris' Conan the Barbarian playing through the door of our apartment, I knew I was going to be tackled from behind when we got to the "Wifeing" track. 8O
