The Chronological Film Score Thread

Wow, that is odd. It always seems so wrong to go strait from "Hellfire" to "A Guy Like You". But, if that's chronological, I guess I will deal with it. Thanks very much.

Well, there might be unreleased score that goes between those songs, not to mention the basical musical device of silence.

Fellowship was a chronological release, wasn't it?

Yes. I think there's a few more too but I can't quite think of them right now.

Most Patrick Doyle CDs. The three I have, anyway.

Any help with Jurassic Park III? I just bought it from a yard sale ($1) and would like to have it in chronological order.

Come to think of it, I can't recall another "regular" label, first album release like that.

Shrek is in chronological order, as is (I think) Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.

Jurassic Park III

Original Album - Bone Man Ben is divided into three seperate cues in the film. I think I got them in the right spot, part I is for Udesky, Nash & Cooper testing their weapons, Part II is for finding the phone in the dino doo and part II is for the military rescue at the end. Although some of the music from the third part may go elsewhere since there is a cue on the Promo with the same name that doesn't cover the three parts I listed. I'm kinda doing it from memory too.

1. Isla Sorna Sailing Situation (04:23)

12a. Bone Man Ben (first 1:09)

16. Big Hat, No Cattle (04:24)

2. The Dinosaur Fly-By (02:15)

Well, it contains part of 'Bone Man Ben' from the promo too ROTFLMAO

Bone Man Ben music is for the scene where they find the bones of Ben (d'oh), Lea teoni's boyfriend.

It actually looks like you're missing a few tracks here. You should have a track called "Waxing a Virgin" or "The Ceremony," which would go between "Frogget and Frogget/The Pyramid" and "Chase/Cemetary." Also, you appear to be missing the "Out the Window" track, which is between "Discovered" and "Kiss/To Crowbridge's House."

For Eraser's complete score does anyone know where "Morehart and Harper", the two untitled cues might go in order with the rest of the score? Maybe too if someone has track names for the two untitled cues it would help.

I dont know why anyone talked about Jaws 2. It's as easy to check as reading the liner notes.

It is:

1, 6, 4, 12, 2, 5, 3, 10, 9, 8, 11, 7, 13, 14

Neil, you can put my jane eyre chronological thread here, so people can found it here...

Actually the liner notes are based on the track titles, but ignored that most of the tracks merges togheter music from different portions of the film.

Correct film order demands lots of editing, as follows:

1, 6 (first part up to 0:51), 4 (first part up to 1:43), 12 (first part up to 1:29), 10 (midle part between 0:49 and 1:18), 7 (last part as of 1:28), 2, 5, 6 (last part as of 0:51), 3, 10 (first and last part), 9, 12 (last part as of 1:29), 4 (as of 1:44), 8, 11, 7 (first part up to 1:28), 13, 14.

As it demands a lot of work to have it really chronological I prefer to listen to it in the album sequencing, which makes for a better listening experience than the not really chronological sequence suggested at the linner notes.

Does anyone know Empire of the Sun chronological order?

Edit:

Looking back through this thread I noticed The Two Towers (years ago:P) was requested.

Despite the joining of cues in the tracks (so you can't achieve full continuity without cutting the files up), here's my take on it:

1. Foundations of Stone

2. The Taming of Smeagol

5. The Uruk-Hai

3. The Riders of Rohan (starts with Eomer meeting the three hunters, but ends with the rebirth of Theoden and him grasping his sword again)

10. Treebeard

4. The Passage of the Marshes

9. The White Rider (opens with the drawing of Saruman's poison from Theoden, but the rest is Gandalf in Fangorn)

7. The Black Gate is Closed

6. The King of the Golden Hall (cuts a section out)

8. Evenstar

12. Helm’s Deep (contains the alert of the wolves of isengard and the arrival at Helm's Deep - no actual action cue)

11. The Leave Taking

13. The Forbidden Pool

14. Breath of Life (opens with Aragorn being awoken by the Grace of the Valar, so should appear earlier, but ends with his return to Helm's Deep)

15. The Hornburg (a general amalgamation of Helm's Deep cues, from the caves to the battle)

16. Forth Eorlingas

17. Isengard Unleashed (should wrap around Forth Eorlingas)

18. Samwise the Brave

19. Gollum’s Song

I'm also trying to work on Batman Begins and Pirates 1, but they're tricky. They both split cues, have irrelevant names, and similar sounding music throughout...

More specifically, Indy 4 is:

1 The Spell Of The Skull [Track 6]

2 A Whirl Through Academe [Track 8]

3 Flight To Peru [Track 7]

4 Oxley's Cell [Track 15a (0:00-2:14)]

5 Grave Robbers [Track 12a (0:00-0:56)]

6 Secret Doors and Scorpions [Track 14]

7 Orellana's Cradle [Track 11]

8 "Return" [Track 9]

9 The Snake Pit [Track 5]

10 The Jungle Chase [Track 10]

11 Ants! [Track 16]

12 Through Eyes and Tears [Track 15b (2:14-end)]

13 Ancient Protectors [Track 12b (0:56-end)]

14 Temple Entrance [Track 13b (2:30-end)]

15 The Door Opens [Track 17a (0:00-2:16)]

16 The Chamber [Track 13a (0:00-2:30)]

17 Leaving The Temple [Track 17b (2:16-end)]

18 The Departure [Track 18]

19 Finale and End Credits [Track 19]

Concert arrangements can be placed at your discretion.

Raiders March [Track 1]

Call of the Crystal [Track 2]

The Adventures of Mutt [Track 3]

Irina's Theme [Track 4]

Again, to listen without editing individual tracks, do this:

1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 6 - 8 - 7 - 12 - 14 - 11 - 9 - 5 - 10 - 16 - 15 - 13 - 17 - 18 - 19

I've done Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of the Black Pearl, but in my opinion there's no point really in switching tracks around because the sequencing is poor (example - going from the campfire drinking straight into the underwater march). Generally it's aesthetically nicer in the way it was originally presented. Also some tracks overlap by a couple of seconds, even if the music before and after aren't related, which is annoying when cutting and pasting...

But anyway here it is in order (having cut up the tracks - take the times slightly approximately):

1. Fog Bound

2. The Medallion Calls

3. The Black Pearl

4. Will and Elizabeth

5. Walk the Plank 0:25-1:59 (Will and Jack board the Dauntless)

6. Blood Ritual 1:10-3:33 (Will and Jack steal the Interceptor from the Navy)

7. Swords Crossed 0:00-3:16 + Walk the Plank 0:00-0:25 (Elizabeth sees the pirate crew as skeletons)

8. To the Pirates Cave! 1:57-3:31 (Will is given the pirate medallion by Elizabeth)

9. Barbossa is Hungry (Black Pearl pursues the Interceptor)

10. Skull and Crossbones 1:57-3:24 (Will tells the pirates he's Bootstrap's son)

11. Moonlight Serenade 0:00-1:15 (Jack and Elizabeth on the island)

12. Underwater March 3:08-4:12 (as title suggests)

13. Moonlight Serenade 1:15-2:09 (Jack starts the fight in the cave)

14. To the Pirates Cave! 0:00-1:57 (Elizabeth frees the "good" pirates and Jack gets stabbed)

15. Skull and Crossbones 0:00-1:57 (action cue after Jack is revealed as a skeleton)

16. Bootstrap's Bootstraps (action cue until Barbossa is killed)

17. Underwater March 0:00-3:08 (Navy claims victory over pirates)

18. One Last Shot

19. He's a Pirate!

I have a copy of Jason LeBlanc's PoA analysis and cue list that was up on the site. Saved it back when I was editing on a laptop before getting wifi. Drop me a PM with your email address and I'd be happy to send it to you. (It's an actual archive of the web page; copying the text would be messy.)

Btw, whats the best way for searching the previous pages in this for something with the Search feature?

And another thing, Goblet of Fire is in correct order right?

Can anybody make a list of the first three HP soundtracks (original release) with the tracks in chrono order? I can't stand it when everything is out of order like they usually are, and I can't find a list anywhere. Any help would be appreciated!

As far as I figure, the prequel trilogy OSTs are sequenced for a better listening experience rather than in the order it was presented in the film (except, ofcourse, for TPM Ultimate edition). So if you own own the original prequel trilogy sondtrack CDs and want to (roughly) play them in chronological film order, it's pretty simple to program your player to play the CDs in the following order:

AOTC

1-3-5-4-8-6-7-9-10-2-11-14-12-13

and for ROTS

1-7-13-2-6-5-8-4-11-10-9-3-12-14-15

But what about TPM? Can anyone tell me in what order to play the tracks to get a most "movie-like" trackorder?

Had a Question about AotC: Where is that 14th track coming from? The OST only has thirteen tracks...

Link to comment

Track 14 would be On the Conveyor Belt, a bonus track only available on Wal*Mart (or was it Target) copies of the OST in the United States.

It comes standard on the album in pretty much every other country. The Australian release even has it properly listed on the back if I'm not mistaken.

I don't know if anybody wanted this, but I tried to sequence the Batman Begins soundtrack. I'm 99% sure that I'm wrong in at least one spot, so any corrections/help would be very much appreciated.

1. "What Are You Seeking?" [Track 1 + Track 5 2:31-end]

2. Childhood Tragedy [Track 7 start-2:08 + Track 4 start-2:47]

3. Training [Track 2 1:57-end]

4. Memories [Track 2 start-1:57]

5. "Embrace Your Fears" [Track 7 2:08-5:02]

6. Monastery Escape [Track 3]

7. Batcave [Track 4 2:47-end]

8. Applied Sciences [Track 9 start-1:34]

9. The Batman [Track 9 1:34-end + Track 5 start-2:31 + Track 12 2:57-6:51] (I'm pretty sure that a lot of the music from this segment of track 12 is not heard anywhere in the film. I put it here because it sounds similar to the music in this scene, just a lot longer.)

10. Missing Weapon [Track 6 3:50-end]

11. Lighten Up [Track 6 1:00-3:51]

12. Happy Birthday [Track 9 3:35-end]

13. Saving Rachel [Track 10]

14. "Trust No One" [Track 6 start-1:00]

15. The Wayne Name [Track 7 5:02-end] (I am absolutely certain that this is wrong, but I have no idea where this music actually goes. I figured this was the best place to put it.)

16. Dual Identities [Track 12 1:25-2:57]

17. Panic [Track 12 start-1:25]

18. "It Ends Here" [Track 8]

19. Rebuilding [Track 11 + Track 12 6:51-end]

And just one other quick thing, if anyone has the complete cue list for Attack of the Clones, could you post it please? It's not back up yet in the Filmography section.

Wahey your work will aid mine but a couple of points.

For the first track I use the first 48 seconds as "opening titles", have the section of track 5 as a separate track, and then play the rest of track 1.

(ie Vespertilio 0:00-0:48; Artibeus 2:31-4:20; Vespertilio 0:48-2:53)

Track 4 is missing the rest of Macrotus. It's annoying how the tracks are edited on soundtrack, but your track 4 should be (approximately) Eptesicus 0:00-1:58; Macrotus 5:01-7:36. So that would be your error for track 15. The rest of macrotus is what plays when Bruce is at the court hearing.

Track 5 I don't think the first 50seconds are in the film, but I kept it anyway :)

Regarding your track 18...in the film it cuts out at about 2:25 and then plays something different...and I think from 2:39-3:59 of Antrozous, that's the section that plays when Batman speaks to Jim Gordon at his home, so that would go around the "missing weapon" track at some point.

Otherwise good job I guess. Also I've downloaded the "end credits" cue which was ripped from dvd which is so much better than the end of Lasiurus. Having said that, it's an annoying soundtrack with lots of good stuff left out...

Can anyone list the chronologial order for James Newton Howard's "The Happening" and the new "Incredible Hulk" 2 disc cd's?

Thanks!

Isn't The Happening already in chronological order? I've only seen the film once, but just by scanning the track titles, it looks like its in order.
