This past Wednesday, ComingSoon.net had the opportunity to attend Lucasfilm and Fox Home Entertainment's roll-out of the "Star Wars Trilogy" DVD set (Coming Sept. 21st.) One of the surprise guests at the event was Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill. He ended up being one of the highlights of the presentation as he enthusiastically recalled humorous anecdotes about the making of the original films, working with Kevin Smith, seeing TROOPS for the first time, and more.

However, his comments towards the end about Episodes 7, 8, and 9 really got everyone's attention. Mark told those in attendance what Lucas told him the third trilogy would be about. Hamill also went into detail about Lucas' original plans for those films, when they would be made, and more. Plus, Lucasfilm's Jim Ward confirmed that a "Star Wars" TV series is on the way in the near future (though he didn't say when it would be set).

I hope that Lucas plans for those episodes are the TV series

I dont want SW movies without Williams because when will do he do them, in 20 years? Plus he said they ended with VI! (though he has lied in the past :sigh: )

Lucas has said again and again that he was just joking to the media when he talked about that it would be fun to re-visit the characters years and years in the future for 7, 8 and 9, and, as the media usually does, they ran with it, exaggerated and sensationalized it.

Hamill did say that Lucas talked about what 7, 8 and 9 would be like IF he made them, but it was years ago, and Lucass has responded through his Imperial Dignitaries that he has no desire or intention of doing them, and that 6 was the final installment.

The reports of confidentiality papers were completely unknown, Lucasfilm claims it isn't true.

Meanwhile, some really wird people on Star wars fan websites claim that Lucas will give them the rights to produce 7, 8, and 9. I think that these people are either high, or really stupid. Their plots suck, who the hell would want to watch them?!

This info basically came from TF.Net and another SWfan site, so go there if you want a little more detals. bowdown

However, I can't believe anything that any of the said parties say. And, with most movies, if Williams doesn't score it, that's where my interest stops, whether they make it or not.

People can talk about post Ep. VI all they want, but IMO the excellence of the story in Knights of the Old Republic proves that there is a gold mine of great stories to be had in the centuries before the movies take place.

As long as it envolves Jedi knights and not official characters portrated by other people than in the movies, i dont care the time setting really.

Lucas said the following in an AP interview about the new TV series:

Ultimately, I'm going to probably move it into television and let other people take it. I'm sort of preserving the feature film part for what has happened and never go there again, but I can go off into various offshoots and things. You know, I've got offshoot novels, I've got offshoot comics. So it's very easy to say, "Well, OK, that's that genre, and I'll find a really talented person to take it and create it." Just like the comic books and the novels are somebody else's way of doing it. I don't mind that. Some of it might turn out to be pretty good. If I get the right people involved, it could be interesting.

This quote is on TF.N, the whole interview/article is here.

Timothy Zahn's Dark Empire books are not that great. I would rather see something original.

Timothy Zahn's Dark Empire books does not exist.

He has wrote The Thrawn Trilogy, the Hand of Thrawn Duology, Survivor's Quest and several short stories. He is going to write Outbound Flight and an unkown novel set between IV and V.

Dark Empire is a comic book story composed of Dark Empire, Dark Empire II and Empire's End. Zahn did not had anything to do with those :P

PS: I was never saying they should make those novels on TV, just hire him to make the script or the story...

OK OK OK I've heard some people call the Zah's book that. I am not well versed with the Thrawn novels. Only read one of them and parts of another.

One of the things I did like about those books is they finally introduced a REAL love interest for Skywalker.

About friggin time! This man deserves better than his sister for crying out loud!

the Hand of Thrawn Duology,

Now what's that!?

Marian - who read the Thrawn Trilogy years ago and liked it a lot.

'Specter of the past' and 'Vision of the Future'.

Survivor's Quest follows up those two.

Happened the same here, they never got translated.

Fortunately, i buy US books ;) (plus no translation errors!)

More TV series confirmation from TFN:

I'm mailing to draw your attention to an article in the Autumn 2004 edition of "LICENSE! Europe" magazine, an industry publication dedicated to licensing (merchandising) opportunities for business.

This issue features an interview with Howard Roffman, president of licensing for LucasFilm. The interview appears on page 40. The interviewer asks whether there will be SW TV. Roffman replies:

"Yes, in autumn 2006 there will be a complete live action Star Wars TV series made by Lucasfilm".

The magazine website is: http://www.license-europe.com/licenseeurope but it has not updated with the new edition yet.

I think the show will really define how much better Lucas is than we think. People keep saying..."Someone else should direct!!!" But my prediction is, the shows will make the Prequels look like masterpieces to all the naysayers.

I'm glad it won't be like Clone Wars in that it's live action and not animated (Lucas detractors insert your favorite anti-CG joke here). But I hope it's like Clone Wars in every other way, because Clone Wars was really good.

As for Williams (shockingly he's hardly been mentioned in this thread) I think that he should at least compose the main title, I doubt they'll use the traditional one from the films. I would also love for him to score the pilot, then let someone else take over.

The Young Obi-Wan Chronicles

Neil

Wasn't that supposed to be like nearly the title of the ORIGINAL SW movie?

The one Lucas was going to make before Star Wars set before it in the Prequel time period?

The "Adventures of Obi-Wan Kenobi" or some crap like that. :music:

Really? You liked the dialogue and plot? :?

Hmm...we can hope...but John Williams has never composed for anything Star Wars outside of the films.
