I'll watch the movies eagerly. Rarely has there been a series that improves so amazingly between two movies (CoS and PoA in this case). James Bond did it, between Dr. No and From Russia With Love, but otherwise, can't think of many. And if the one following PoA is as good as the one following From Russia With Love.....

I thought film 1 was very good and 3 was brilliant, and I enjoy 2 despite its failings. I do care, so I had to pick #2 (even though I'm far less disappointed than some others here, and I'm sure Doyle will write a wonderful score).

And it's not like I watched all three movies in the theatre repeatedly because of Williams. Williams' assignment was what made me read the books, but the books were what got me excited about the films.

Marian - eagerly awaiting film #4 and book #6.

Sure, I liked the franchise before the films came out. For about a year, I didn't even care that John Williams had scored Sorcerer's Stone (guys, I'm really sorry, this was before I got into film music :-p).

Since i haven just seen the 1st one, and ill see the rest at home when the oportunity 'arises'... i think my Potter interest will diminish to deep levels. Unless the next scores are William's based or Williams returns...

Luke who had been gettin more interested in the Potter movies until this bad news....

I voted for the first option.

Same here. Even though I am dissapointed that Williams is leaving at least for film 4, I'm closer to not caring that being "very dissapointed"

The answer that suits my feelings is really not up there, so I voted for option three. Harry Potter just isn't my cup of tea. The only reason I even saw the first one was for JW's score. I haven't seen the second or third one yet, but have both soundtracks. I will probably buy the fourth one for the same reason. I am not all that disappointed to hear that JW is leaving the film series. I think that he gave us two tremendous scores for that movie, but I still want to see him doing other projects. And if he keeps re-visiting the same material over and over (how many books are there now, 7 or 8), it will all start to blend together.

I think Patrick Doyle is a brilliant composer, who doesn't see enough screen time sadly. To be honest, I am completely looking forward to seeing where he will take these scores.

When Jerry Goldsmith was not brought back for STII, I was extremely disappointed, but if James Horner had not been given a chance, we would have missed out on one of the most fantastic action scores of the 80's. Give Mr. Doyle a fair chance... I think you will be pleased.

Option 2 is the closest... I'm disappointed that Williams won't be doing GoF, but I would have watched the films from the beginning even if Williams had never had anything to do with them.

Number two. I have never gone to see a film just to hear the music. What's the point in that? Film music is the icing on the cake, not the cake. The story, direction and acting are the cake! I enjoyed Harry Potter long before I heard that John Williams would be scoring the first movie so I would have gone to see it anyway. In fact I was really excited about seeing it! Hearing that Johnny had taken on the score made no difference to my seeing it, but it did make me giggle rather stupidly to myself.

Option 2. I'll still see GOF but I won't be anticipating it. It was John Williams and the first film that made me want to read the books and that made me a fan. But without Williams, it will be a devestating loss to the film series.
