pixie_twinkle 44
Rocky IX in 10 years time!!!!! In keeping with the spirit of Rocky John Williams will incorporate music from the previous films. His lush orchestral instrumental of Eye of the Tiger will be the film's highlight.

Marian Schedenig 5,520
Well, given the circumstances, Sleepers probably qualfies as a best score. And The Football Game is really a great cue.Marian -

Adam 1
With regard to Rudy, my suspicion is that the film was temp-tracked with a lot of Far and Away. The music has the Goldsmith stamp on it, but his two dominant themes bear some resemblance to two of Williams' themes. That might also account for why Goldsmith's score is so Irish, above and beyond what would should probably be called for, even accounting for the fact that the team has an Irish connection.- Adam
Marian Schedenig 5,520
The only similarity I discovered in Rudy was with a theme from Goldsmith's The Swarm (many years before F&A )...not counting Rachel Portman's Cider House Rules, which came after Rudy.Marian - who considers Rudy classic Goldsmith. Morlock 9
I concider classic Goldsmith. But It could've been classic Williams as well, one of the 2-3 scores I could say would apply to both.
Adam 1
I said it had the "Golsmith stamp". I'm simply saying that Far and Away was probably used a lot as a temp track. Sort of like, Jurassic Park is pure Williams even though the film was temp tracked with other composers and its possible to see connections. Not even JW or JG can ignore the temp-track completely.- Adam

hoby12 0
I cannot believe after so many movies JW scored he didn't get stuck with a sappy movie about a sucky highschool football team winning the championship or like a MLB baseball team with a blind pitcher who pitches a no hitter. There aren't many better chances to wip out the forever modulating old soaring strings and standard Hollywood I - vi - IV - V tune.PS Go Yankees

Omen II 1,088
Has anyone ever seen or heard Flashing Spikes (1962)? It was a TV movie directed by none other than the great John Ford, starred Jimmy Stewart and Jack Warden and was about baseball. I think it was one of those Alcoa Theater thingummies. Oh yes, and it was scored by John Williams!Does that count, even though I've never seen it? beerchug

It's probably the most famous high school football team in the state. The book Friday Night Lights is supposed to be really good. Whether that translates into a good movie, :? . Falstaft 1,708
Hook -- The Baseball Scene JW didn't score this scene.Come again? I was talking about the big pirate baseball game which... is trademark Williams. You must be thinking of the jazzy song during the little-league game at the beginning of the movie. I've always been under the impression that it too was Williams, but if you have evidence that it's not, I'd be very curious.
John Crichton 4
The first part of the Neverland baseball game has source music, Take Me Out To the Ballgame. Williams probably arranged it. The actual cue written by Williams starts in the buildup to Jack hitting the home run.And the jazzy cue at the start is also Williams, Banning Back Home.
