We're in a Williams score lull. What are you doing in the meantime?

    • I've got my favorite Williams (and others') scores and I'm quite content, thank you.

    • Still doing a listening tribute to the dearly departed Jerry Goldsmith and/or Elmer Bernstein.

    • Huddled in a dark corner quietly sobbing because Williams isn't scoring GoF.

    • Constantly picking up my pencil/pen and "conducting" my best guess of the Ep. III score.

It's been a while since our last new Williams score, and a while yet before the next one. What are you up to during this great lull?

note- I was going to include a "combination" option, but I thought that too many people would choose that and dilute the poll. I'm making you choose. ;) Just pick the one that's closest. :P

John- wishing there was an option on polls that allowed multiple answers to be selected.

A bit of 2, 3 and 4.

I'm short of new scores from all my favourite composers (Williams, T.Newman, J.N.Howard) at the moment :P I did manage to find 2 complete scores by Williams though (Home Alone 2, ESB), which are my first experiences of having the entire thing as Williams intended.

I've also investigated others such as Silvestri & Mancina for some of their older material, and had a little Goldsmith tribute by leaving his playlist running until I'd listened to about 3/4 of everything by him ;)

This isn't the first "lull" we've had, so the music I do have is doing just fine, thank you very much.

If we were living in the era before recorded music, then I might have a problem.

I've been re-discovering the joys of listening to recorded music at home with my new SA-CD player. I've bought 17 new discs in the last month, including E.T. and Yo-Yo Ma Performs the Music of John Williams.

I'm filling the time discovering various scores that I have never owned before, but have recently obtained through the trading board......and Towering Inferno is cool....

Possibly. Although most people would probably not even know what that means. :|

It's not as bad as 2003,at least we can come off of PoA and jump right into the Ep 3 hype.I expect lots of Ep.3 news to start pouring out so we will have many threads about it.This may be our last great enticipatory period for an new JW score, better enjoy it.

That's okay, I'm not sure what "Super Audio" means.  I held up a rock of Kryptonite to my collection and it sounded just as good as before.

I've got too many unopened/unlistened/"unlistened enough to fully appreciate it" CD's to contemplate anything coming out in the future. Though I am keeping an eye out for La La Land's 'Extreme Prejudice'.

I have so much catching up to do because my rate of buying has really outdone my rate of listening this year and I just realized i have no money left. LOL

I've been expanding my collection in all directions, but especialy Goldsmith (I've gotten a huge amount of his stuff since the begining of the year). My current listening is largely limited to Williams (mainly Jane Eyre and The Fury), Goldsmith (mainly disc 3 of the Fox set), Sinbad, Hannibal, Black Hawk Down, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Enter The Dragon and one of my 14 home made collections.

Actually part of the reason I got this set was the amazing deal. It goes for $1800 on Amazon. A couple of copies turned up on berkshirerecordoutlet.com for just $199! It's still a lot of cash, but I figured this was something I really wanted. Plus a saving of $1600 is pretty sweet! It also helps that all the keyboard pieces are played by Trevor Pinnock who is the greatest harpsichord player ever IMO!

Well, if you like it, that's fine. But I wouldn't even have spent the 200 bucks on it, despite the discount. It's just a matter of taste. 8O

Now if this was the complete John Williams collection...

- Marc, wondering if 175 CDs would cover Williams' complete works to date. 8O

I'm sure the Shark Cage Fugue is way better than any Fugue Bach composed.

Don't underestimate the ways of the Bach, my children. Your "taste" may one day evolve. Yes, you look down on classical music, and yet you see composers like Williams and Goldsmith humbly bowing down for Bach&Co, as if they recognize their master. The fact that your idols have immense respect for the "classics" should at least make you think.

Be careful not to get banned!

Yeah, that's a clear violation of board rule 7G- 'Gibberish is not allowed'.

We need to have a group project for the whole forum. Like finding a way to put the brain of the late Jerry Goldsmith into Junston Timberlake's body or stealing a print of the ORIGINAL Un-F'D up SW films from the Skywalker Ranch.

If we put our minds together I'll bet the potential would be limitless.

Well it's definatly more exciting. But Bach was writing for Church services and such. Considering that he's got some pretty dang good stuff.

Justin - Who'd love to hear an orchestral version of 'Little Fugue'
