The contour and rhythm of the theme are in Augie's, but not the intervals, harmony, and menace! God I hate Augie's Band! Eeurgh.

I love it! It sort of represents how Palpetine is controlling everything, even during celebration.

I've heard it in Augie forever. I still can't believe people don't hear this (but then again, there are people who still don't hear Jabba's Theme in TPM either).

As a rule I don't like source music-like finales in SW. If it wasn't for the wonderfull creepiness of the kids singing the Emperor's Theme I'd probably feel the same way.

Jabba's Theme is DEFINATELY there, BUT...

...after almost 6 years of listening I still don't hear The Emperor's Theme in Augie. The note-for-note comparison that someone back did in 1999 proved that the two themes are different (although the first 4 notes are the same).

Then again; Luke's theme and E.T. theme share the same first 5 notes and those two pieces are NEVER regarded as being the same.
