SturgisPodmore 0
Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events is a fine score. I don't understand all the bashing of it.Justin - Who loves the last two tracks.I completely agree. It isn't Oscar-worthy, but it's enjoyable enough. The beginning of "The Bad Beginning" and "Loverly Spring" had me in fits of laughter. You would understand if you've read the books: it's just dripping in sarcasm.I also love the last two tracks. "One Last Look" has a nice string rendition of the VFD theme, and "The Letter That Never Came" is very very beautiful; I love the "Baudelaire orphans' theme" in that track and on piano in "Resilience."It takes some getting used to Newman's unique style, but once you've listened to it a few times, it's really quite good.My ratings for all of the nominated scores:-Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - 10/10-The Village - 9/10-Finding Neverland - 8.5/10-Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events - 7/10-The Passion of the Christ - N/A~Sturgis
Ray Barnsbury 8
Much of Lemony Snicket is good, but much of it is dull and seemingly uninspired. For every "The Reptile Room" or "The Letter That Never Came," there's a "Curdled Cave" or "Interlude With Sailboat." And as an overall score, it doesn't have much cohesiveness. Still though, the highlights are very good.Ray Barnsbury
