The closest thing to an animated film might be The Phantom Mencace. And I don't mean this in a critical way, necessarily, or in refernce to the actual use of computer animation. In an interview JW alluded to the fact that the film had a certain bounce in its step, even using the word "cartoon". Maybe somebody can remember what interview that was. But he's referring, I think, to the pacing and the way its edited, which is closer to the style of animation than the usual Star Wars films. I think that does kind of come through in the film and score, for better or worse.

Back in the 80s, Mr Williams was approached by Walt Disney Pictures for the Black Cauldron.

Why he didn't score it is another story....

Yes, true, I remember that story... there are also a couple of wrong filmographies around the web that includes this picture among many others non-JW scored films.

I wouldn't mind if Williams scored an animation film about gay bambies playfully frolicing in the field.

Oh my...

I thught the gay was Flower...

Oh dear, there go the choldhood memories! LOL

I would love to hear a JW animated score. Animated features typically seem to allow composers to use a broad pallete and create very "feel-good" or even epic music (See The Land Before Time, etc).

Ah i see the problem, you all associate "animation" with kid movies, and feel good happy stuff. WRONG. A porn film that is animated is still porn. So if The Lion King was shot in live action it would still be the same movie. Animation isn't a different genre of film, it's just a way of making a film people.

Indeed, with different demands on the composer.

I'm sorry to hear that.

But with animated features, you always can tell the composer goes out to make a fun, bombast score. Plus, with there being less editing late in the process (granted, there is inevitably some, but I don't think it's to the full extent as with a live-action film), the score usually flows very well within the finished film.
