Vincent_Price 0
Many composers wrote a score for an animated movie. But John Williams never done it (only the cartoon in the first JURASSIC PARK movie). Can someone tell me why ?

Adam 1
The closest thing to an animated film might be The Phantom Mencace. And I don't mean this in a critical way, necessarily, or in refernce to the actual use of computer animation. In an interview JW alluded to the fact that the film had a certain bounce in its step, even using the word "cartoon". Maybe somebody can remember what interview that was. But he's referring, I think, to the pacing and the way its edited, which is closer to the style of animation than the usual Star Wars films. I think that does kind of come through in the film and score, for better or worse.- Adam

David Coscina 3
I understand that Williams was Brad Bird's composer of choice for The Iron Giant. Don't know whether he declined or was never approached...The result was that we got a Kamen classic though.

LOL I would love to hear a JW animated score. Animated features typically seem to allow composers to use a broad pallete and create very "feel-good" or even epic music (See The Land Before Time, etc).Ray Barnsbury

HPFAN_2 0
Ah i see the problem, you all associate "animation" with kid movies, and feel good happy stuff. WRONG. A porn film that is animated is still porn. So if The Lion King was shot in live action it would still be the same movie. Animation isn't a different genre of film, it's just a way of making a film people. THE IGNORANCE IS BLINDING!!!!!!

Mr. Breathmask 555
But with animated features, you always can tell the composer goes out to make a fun, bombast score. Plus, with there being less editing late in the process (granted, there is inevitably some, but I don't think it's to the full extent as with a live-action film), the score usually flows very well within the finished film.- Marc Harry Gregson-Williams - Tartarus from Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas
