Dammit Mirko, you stole my thread! It's not even his birthday yet (not here anyways). :lurk:

But anyway --

Huzzah to Mr. Williams! May he live for many more glorious years!

- You really didn't have to do this.

Oh, it's a pleasure, my friend.

But, please, give us great ROTS, WOTW and MOAG scores.

And please, ask your friend Steven to make Indy 4...we want another of your outstanding scores.

Mirko - probably asking too much. :jump::):folder:

Call the principal

And hand him the news

We've got a holiday

That he can't refuse

A day of harmony,

A day of music:

John Williams's birthday!

John Williams Day?

(A reverential mission)

John Williams Day

(The hope of each musician)

No more am I the only guy

To stand up and say:

Hooray, John Williams,

Hooray!

If you're wondering

"Now, how do we start?"

Just blow the music

Til you know it by heart!

We're gonna celebrate

We'll throw a party

John Williams's Birthday!

John Williams Day!

(And when you say the title...)

John Williams Day!

(You hear a great recital)

The right of every boy and girl

To stand up and say:

Hooray, John Williams,

Hooray!

John Williams Day!

(A philharmonic rumble)

John Williams Day!

(A polyphonic jumble)

A humble dedication as we

Stand up and say:

Hooray, John Williams,

Hooray!

Let's imagine it.

That glorious hour

Filled with emotion

Yet inspired with power

When we all honor

The man we adore

On the day we place

The newest face

On Mount Rushmore!

John Williams Day!

(A moment of reflection)

John Williams Day!

(A classical injection)

So facing this direction

We begin it today

A musical collection

Everybody can play

The right of every boy and girl

To stand up and say:

Hooray,

John Williams! John Williams hooray!

-Ross, who celebrates the Maestro's 73rd.

I wonder if the LSO will do anything special for him.  It didn't occur to me that his birthday would fall right in the middle of recording time.

That would be a nice thing to do. He seems to like working on his birthday doesn't he? Didn't he conduct for the Winter Olympics on his birthday too?

I'm sure the members of the orchestra will sing to him "Happy Birthday." Better yet, play it. Better STILL, have a surprise party for him which they will announce with a crash of the STAR WARS MAIN TITLE!!!!

;)

LOL :jump: LOL :lurk: LOL

Happy Birthday, greatest composer that ever lived!!!! ;)

:ola:

:joy:

Happy B-day! birthday.gif

Not that he reads this site. And if he did, he'd probably wonder why so many people bash his scores, bash movies that he's scored, and all these dirty and/or sexual jokes and stuff unrelated to scores.

I've been celebrating John Williams' 73rd birthday since Friday, with the 8th annual John Williams FIlm Festival.

Nine films: all of his Oscar-winning scores and the other four "Star Wars" films

Monday and today will be nothing but John Williams music at home, in my car and at work.

:D "Call of the Champions"

Happy Birthday Mr Williams. You write great Guitar Music.

Melange - Refraining from any emoticons, because there

is far too much animation going on here already, as it is.

Celebrating Johnny with my semi-annual posting spree --

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MAESTRO!

Poor Neil. That cake is going to resemble Miss Havisham's.

Figo, for whom all clocks stopped at 10 PM.

P.S. Trumpeteer, your method of celebrating is the coolest. :D

Figo, just imagine how big the festival will get in 2005 if Williams wins the Oscar this year, and then in 2006 when Episode 3 comes out on DVD.

11 films! Oh my! I'll have to start in January!

But yes, I always enjoy watching the films. Grouping them together in one festival makes me appreciate the music of John Williams so much more.

Jeff -- :D "Saving Buckbeak," "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" (this score is really growing on me now that I have the CD -- a well-deserved nomination. The last third of the film was always great to me, but I'm appreciating the second act more)

Jeff, this time next year you'll also have the WotW score and the DVD,

rumor is the Ep III dvd will be a Nov. release.

Oh wait a minute -- I just realized you're including the prequels. :P An odd choice to celebrate the master, don't you think, considering his music was hacked up and stitched together like Frankenstein's monster!

Oh well. As long as I don't have to watch "A.I." You'll have to send me out for Chinese...

Figo, who wouldn't sit through that again, even to celebrate Johnny's 100th.

:music: Rozsa's Cello Concerto, with Janos Starker.

The best of birthdays and birthday wishes to Mr Williams!

One of the very very best, and one of the first two (actually, the first one, the other being Jerry Goldsmith, two years later) who introduced me to film music, through his wonderful E.T. .
