What Music Would You Like At Your Funeral?

A) Yep! It's that time of the year again! What track, cue or song or other piece of music would you like at your funeral?

B) Additional question: You lie in your deathbed and realize your final moment has come. What track, cue or song or other piece of music would you like to hear one more time before you ... go.

I've already stated in my will that the following music is to be played at my funeral:

1. John Williams - HYMN TO THE FALLEN from SAVING PRIVATE RYAN. Played 13 times for each chin.

2. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - Lacrimosa from REQUIEM when I'll be cremated topped off with the theme from VOYAGER by Jerry Goldsmith which will be played around the clock.

3. Jerry Goldsmith - Theme from THE OMEN in case I go the other way which wouldn't be far from the truth.

Hitch, who ponders the day when he'll go the way of the dodo.

"The Farewell" from Mahler's Song of the Earth.

:)

Leaving America from Angela's Ashes - a delightful and perfect balance of the sentimental sombriety coupled with optimism.

I'm 20. What do I know about death, or even life at this point, to make such a poignant decision about them? I really cannot answer this question.

The older I get, the less I know.

Jubilee 350. That's what it would sound like to have freedom over time and space, yet retaining your identity and spirit.

Interesting question!

It is well with my soul (the hymn) - with two key changes. :)

"When it's all been said and done" - from the Revival in Belfast CD.

Amazing Grace - also with two key changes.

Luke & Leia - JW, Return of the Jedi

"Nocturne" from Concerto for Horn, John Williams

Probably that will be quite more than enough.... we don't want to keep them there forever!

I'd go with perhaps parts from Strauss's Tod und Verklärung (which btw contains the ground for the Superman Love Theme)... meh, I dunno something like that.....

and now something completely off topic to make MSM jealous: Hillary Hahn is coming to Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, I just might meet her :)

That's creepy. "Rock Me, Amadeus" and "Puttin' on the Ritz" were some of my favorite songs in the 80's!

Neil - who never confused Falco with Taco

Three Moods, One Heart a song I wrote just for the event, my death. Weird, eh? Well, I don't know its just something I wanted. Kinda pretencious, but I don't mean for it to be.

while we have many differences, over the years we have had some eerie similarities in our tastes.

"Duel of the Fates" with live choir.

LOL I can just see a group of mourners staring in horror as the London Voices scream in Sanskrit at someone's funeral.

Great question, gotta hand it to ya!

This one is an easy one - "Adagio" from Alien 3 and "Guilty/The Long Walk" from Judge Dredd. I guess if I'm feeling evil on my deathbed, "The Emperor's Death" followed by "Darth Vader's Death"

Any of the following:

Mendelssohn - Hebrides Overture

Mahler - Symphony No. 2 (the end of the 5th movement when the choir comes in, otherwise I wouldn't live long enough to hear the whole thing!)

Dvorak - Essay for Strings

Barber - Third Essay, for Orchestra

Williams - Escape-Chase-Saying Goodbye, from E.T.

Wagner - Pilgram's Chorus, from Tannhauser

Then what's the point of choosing music when you're not around to enjoy it?

LOL

Annoying your friends and family for the last time with your John Williams obsession.
