David Coscina 3
Minghella is a great writer in his own right and a gifted writer at adapting well known novels. I think it would be quite intriguing if he and Yared tackled a Harry Potter film. I've been listening to a lot of Yared's work these days and his range is quite something- he's an underrated composer in my opinion (and let's leave TROY out of it altogether). Works like Camille Claudel, Autumn in New York, Possession, Flight of the Navigator, Talented Mr. Ripley, City of Angels, all very different stylistically yet all very deftly written. Just something to posit.Any other well known director/composer teams people would like to see do a Harry Potter film?

John Crichton 4
Well since OotP is a rather dark book, Burton/Elfman could have been interesting.
SeekUYoda 0
Works like Camille Claudel, Autumn in New York, Possession, Flight of the Navigator, Umm... I thought Silvestri did Flight of the Navigator? Did Yared ghostwrite it or orchestrate it or something?
JoeinAR 1,759
Spike Lee, and Terrance Blanchard, now that would be an interesting twist.
benefactor 3
My vote is for Peter Greenaway who should reunite with Michael Nyman again. At least for Harry Potter.

SturgisPodmore 0
If anyone had said Alfonso Cuaron, think about it, we would all have said "What the hell?" But he made a wonderful film.I don't know, I would really like to see James Newton Howard's take on the Harry Potter films, but his only collaboration that I know of is with M. Night Shayamalan, and I don't suppose he would be quite right. Although, who really knows? Cuaron saved the series and he had previously done a very raunchy flick, so whatever. I guess I would say JNH. I really like his style.~Sturgis
orrakul 0
If anyone had said Alfonso Cuaron, think about it, we would all have said "What the hell?" But he made a wonderful film.I agree that "Prisoner of Azkaban" was a good film, but is it me, or did anyone else feel that the entire layout of Hogwarts was changed in this film? Hagrid's hut looked to be in a different place from the first 2 films, and the womping willow was definitely not in the same place as "Chamber of Secrets".I think that Chris Columbus deserves kudos for making the settings so faithful to the novels; he set things out exactly as I envisioned them...Oh by the way, JK Rowling said that POA was her favourite of the 3 films, so maybe I'm just a finnicky grouch! He also has a relationship with Lawrence Kasdan, who would be an interesting choice for HP (and they must be REALLY close if JNH did Dreamcatcher). Or recognizes the film that best captures the spirit of her world. (and let's leave TROY out of it altogether). But ironically that's his finest score?- Tim. I think that was kind of his point. Even leaving Troy out of it, Yared's body of work has proven that he can adapt to many different kinds of movies (I assume that's what FA meant). David Coscina 3
Yared still thinks Camille Claudel is his best work. I've been studying the score- it is much more harmonically advanced than Troy although it doesn't have the same variety of orchestral colors as it was written for large string orchestra, percussion and harp.I left Troy out because Yared is NOT defined by that score nor the contraversy surrounding it. He's an exceptional composer. I'd love to hear his take on Harry Potter. Because of his classical influences, I bet he'd do something along the lines of Ravel/Debussy with a smattering of Vaughan Williams for English flavor.
