I just want to see if my theory about those who like the ROTS score compared to those who don't is correct. I'll share my conclusions later in the thread.

Just some criteria: Saw Star Wars on video means you weren't born yet. If you were around in 1977, even if you didn't see Star Wars in theatres, you couldn't help but be slightly influenced by its effect on the culture at the time.

Ummmmmm buddy ,,,, this poll is too limited.

You need to broaden those choices.

I like the new ROTS score but I was let down by it.

Otherwise your theory wont work out. I would have choices like "I like the ROTS score but I expected alot more" and the like.

well, that's a good point but I'm trying to limit the choices so I can correlate the data. I know more variations would ultimately yield more accurate results but I just want to satisfy my curiosity.

I would say that if there's anything slightly negative about how you react to the ROTS music it should go under "don't like" even if that means slightly disappointed. I guess I should have made the questions a little more detailed....ah well.

Born in 1985, saw original SW movies on video, found ROTS score good but very underwhelming. So I picked the last option, because there are many things about the ROTS score I dislike more than the other SW scores.

I'm sorry, i'm not happy with certain aspect of the ROTS score as I have heard it so far, but that has nothing to do with when I saw SW.

Neil saw SW when he was very young and has critical issues with the ROTS score.

Chrusher saw SW when he was very young and adores every note of ROTS.

It is- but I think those of us who were kids when we saw the first Star Wars have a certain sentimental attachment to it and the themes, hence ROTS summons up these nostalgic feelings. Given that, it's hard to be objectively critical about it as those who saw Star Wars years after its initial release. The music stirs up sentiments that go beyond the actual film or music and brings associations to that time and place in our lives. Like I said, that's just my theory. And I know a few others who reacted to ROTS for the same reasons.

I think you really hit the point, from a larger and broader point of view. When I was listening to the ROTS score and suddenly (and unexpectedly, I'd say) the Leia's Theme and then the Throne Room Fanfare popped out at the end, I was sincerely moved. Yep, moved. It's mostly a nostalgic feeling, that really sums up the whole: it's a very nice gift from Williams, as he's saying to all the fans "Thank you, I enjoyed it so much" and completing the circle. Star Wars is, by and large, the reason why most John Williams' fans became... John Williams' fans! That score was the "key moment" for many film score aficionados, so I find very moving and honest that Williams now is nodding to all his fans (and to Star Wars fans as well, of course) and slipping away from this Saga.

The last Star Wars score ends just when the first one began. I find it a very honest and sincere statement from John Williams' part. He's a real Artist.

Exactly......with the poll up right now, I've got to choose the "Watched on video (missed it in theatres by 5 years!) and like the score" because I do like elements of it........of course, I did expect a lot more and far fewer glaring mixing and yes, compositional mistakes/laziness. I don't completely dislike the score though, so can't go with that option.

I was born in 1977 and saw Star Wars on TV. The first time I really enjoyed that movie was in 1995, just after I bought the Star Wars Anthology Soundtrack 4CDs set. And of course, it was a high pleasure to see the trilogy on theaters in 1997.

In fact, I have been interested by the movies just because of the music.

I saw SW in the theater 13 times in 1977. I was 14 at the time. Do I like the ROTS score so far? YES!
