Mooz0r 23
Just wondering really.. why is it that this score seems so sort of rushed...? Did Williams have a tight schedule? I mean.. it's a great score.. but take a look into it and you'll see almost direct rips from his previous scores.. for example take that section of the Quidditch match... where Harry and Malfoy are ducking up and down throughout the inside of the audience seats.. (I'm thinking Zam the Assasin) ... and Gilderoy Lockhart's theme and "No Ticket" (Last Crusade) are remarkably similar too....

Luke Skywalker 1,284
Well lets say that williams was not scoring it in the 1st place, just making the new themes, the producers didnt like Ross original score and then asked Williams to make it. So in the end, Ross just conducted and arranged the Williams music to fit the scenes. Plus there is musch reuse of Philosopher's Stone there.Yes you can say it was a little rushed... ridan 0
There was music in it that sounded correct, but the Philosopher's Stone motif should not have been used at all. Especially when the Chamber of Secrets was being spoken about or opened. Williams wrote a theme for that!
bondo 33
And what a theme it was! My 2 favorite HP themes actually came from this film - Fawkes and the CoS theme
John Crichton 4
This score was such a missed opportunity. All the new themes are really good, even Dobby's. Personally my favorite is the Chamber theme, I'm not as head-over-heels for Fawkes' Theme as many here, though I do enjoy it. But the aforementioned use of the Stone theme as a "Mystery of the Chamber" theme is just plain awful. Half the score is just SS cues re-used if some are altered slightly and all are new recordings, and even some of the new material is not too good. It's still quite a jolt to me having this in between the excellent Sorcerer's Stone and the very good Prisoner of Azkaban.
Henry B 49
I guess I'm one of the few that likes the SS motif in Chamber of Secrets, on the sole grounds that "it sounds cool." Just a gut instinct/preference.
King Mark 2,924
There's also the AotC mystery motif that Williams used for Lucius Malfoy.K.M.Who noticed it again last night
HPFAN_2 0
Despite the reuse of many cues from SS, it's still the best Potter score.HPFAN_2 - Who doesn't judge the quality of a score by how it's used in a film.
Composer_Fan 2
Composer Analogies: CoS/Amadeus Edition....Antonio Salieri: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart::William Ross: John WilliamsOr at least that's my take on it, lol. I wonder what Ross' stuff sounded like. I'm sure JW is a tough act to follow. I love his themes in CoS, and I wish he could have worked on the whole thing, and perhaps have written a Quidditch, 2nd Year? That was one of the biggest let-downs for me, the same Quidditch song. Ray Barnsbury 8
This score gave us so much, and yet was still quite lacking (primarily as used in the film; there's very little reused material on the soundtrack, though it has its share of hum-drum underscore). Fawkes is one of Williams' best themes, with Dobby and the Chamber them close behind. And yes, the use of the SS motif as the Chamber opens annoys me every time. Josh500 1,602
Hey imagine this. Doyle writes the score to the latest Potter movie and the producers don't like it. So Williams has to come in and write the score for it, after all. Wouldn't that be the day???(Of course I'm just kidding. That's never gonna happen, because Doyle is one composer to be reckoned with. But just wondering what if . . . ) LOL LOL

Ray Barnsbury 8
I suppose a Williams replacement could happen, but I really don't know if I'd prefer it. If Williams were to score the film, I'd want it to be a full effort, unlike the rushed CoS. I'm actually excited to hear what Doyle comes up with.Ray Barnsbury
