Meet the Press

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any clue where the Meet the Press theme came from? My trumpet teacher said that the credits say John Williams composed it, and the music sure sounds like JW, but I've never seen or heard it mentioned elsewhere. Is it part of a big Mission Suite? Any ideas will be accepted.

Yes, that is by him:

In 1985, John Williams wrote four themes for the NBC Network:

?"The Mission" for the NBC Nightly News.

?"Fugue For Changing Times" for a Connie Chung news magazine.

?"Scherzo For Today" for The Today Show.

?"The Pulse of Events" for special reports and later for Meet the Press.

I found it here.

Does anyone know of any releases with more NBC themes on it? Your help is appreciated!!!

There are some RA Clips of the NBC themes on http://johnwilliams.home.sapo.pt/ or at least there were. I tried to get to the multimedia section and it seems to be down. I cant read Portuguese tho so I may be doing something wrong.... The RA clips are of reasonable quality and I say "reasonable" since they seem to be the only "recordings" for the time being...

Hope this helps a lil bit at least a start in the right direction....

Harry - I have the "Meet The Press" piece as an mp3, as well as some of the bumpers he composed as well. Send me your e-mail address and I'll e-mail them to you.

Dan - who's pretty sure he knows Harry's address, but doesn't want to e-mail without permission.

YAY! 500.

I'm not bidding on anything you're bidding on. I might be watching something. Send me the link. If you know my eBay ID, just add "aol.com" to the end of it.

masochism:

The deriving of pleasure, or the tendency to derive pleasure, from being humiliated or mistreated, either by another or by oneself.

A willingness or tendency to subject oneself to unpleasant or trying experiences.
