We didn't see much of the alien ships, but one shot of one of the "tripods" towards the end looks similar to the alien hand on the poster and from the 1953 film. Just because I couldn't properly identify a Williams piece on a minute trailer broadcast over television with sound effects and such doesn't mean I'm oblivious to Williams' style.
