new War of the Worlds trailer last night during LOST

Recommended Posts

During one of the many annoying commercial breaks for LOST last night, ABC aired a newer WOTW trailer with John Williams music. Sounded very good to me. I taped LOST so I might go back to it today to listen closer...

Just saw the trailer.

It seems as though Tim Robbins' performance will be the talk of the town. We didn't see much of the alien ships, but one shot of one of the "tripods" towards the end looks similar to the alien hand on the poster and from the 1953 film.

The music in the full theatrical trailer is called Gothic Power. It is by Christopher Fields and was also used in the theatrical trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.

Chill out Simon. I heard it once on t.v. Based on my one-time hearing of the music, it seemed consistent with the music I heard during the scene showed on Oprah.

It just puzzles me what some Williams fans are really fans of, if they can believe anything composed by John Doe, Graeme Revell or Trevor Rabin sounds like John Williams. If they can't hear the difference in compositional quality of the works, they are just... "orchestral music fans". No matter how crude.

Simon, I think you should just relax and quit it with the arrogant suppositions. Just because I couldn't properly identify a Williams piece on a minute trailer broadcast over television with sound effects and such doesn't mean I'm oblivious to Williams' style. It was an honest mistake. Get off your high horse.
