Non-JW: The Spaceballs theme :?

JW: Definitely The Asteroid Field (probably my favorite Williams melody of all time).

NON-JW: The Song About Alexander Nevsky by Prokofiev.

Something by Williams that DOES get old for me is Duel of the Fates, I think because it's so repetetive.

3 that I've listened to a lot recently :

The final track on Hamlet by Patrick Doyle

The Construction, Explorers by Jerry Goldsmith

Homecoming, Born on the Fourth of July - though that usually involves skipping the first minute and going straight to the drums and trumpet solo. Beautiful melody and performance.

Apparently I'm the only one who thinks the main title music for "Star Wars" and "The Empire Strikes Back" were two of the best orchestrated and performed pieces of music in modern music.

Though I will say "Sorcerer's Stone" was pretty freakin' good in its orchestrations.

The performance of Main title from Star Wars has always been one of the great dissapointments of my life.

Isn't it kind of premature to be listing music from The Terminal, Prisoner of Azkaban, ROTS, and other recent scores? I mean, I can listen to some Williams themes and love them for a few years while others (like the Asteroid Field from TESB) have lasted with me for longer than a decade. The music has to pass the test of time...

I forgot to put Battle of Hoth before The Empire Strikes Back - The Imperial March. This is my all-time favorite piece from any of the Star Wars film scores and subsequently my 2nd favorite scene from any of the films only surpassed by Vader's revelation to Luke at the end of the film.

After having seen the movie, yes. Those cues work so good in the movie, the deep male basses are actually used as the leitmotif for "turning to the dark side" in the movie, which was an excellent choice of Williams, instead of using a real theme.

For me those two minutes are as strong as The Dark Side Beckons. Just listen to them again in the dark and you will agree that those are some of the most creepy and suspenseful cues ever written by Williams.

John Williams - The Lost World

Track 4. The Hunt.

I don't know why it is but whenever I play this track I turn the stereo UP and I get a rush of excitment in my brain. A creative urge, like I want to go out and shoot a movie or something.
