Ray Barnsbury 8
I haven't had any luck on the Trading Board, so I figured I'd try here. I'm looking for anyone who has Silva's recent collection, The Incredible Film Music Box. I'm really just interested in the Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban suite, so if anyone has it and would like to trade online, that'd be great! Let me know and I can send you my collection list. Thanks, Ray Barnsbury
TheRuleOfThirds 0
With it being Silva and POA, yeah...I'd have to agree, that would be interesting. Be sure to keep your volume low.
fommes 126
Hey Ray, do you have this box? What does the suite contain? And is the same rerecording on the recent Harry Potter compilation from Silva or is it a different rerecording?
Indiana_Fett 0
I found the suite on iTunes. I'm gonna take a bullet for you people and buy it. Does anyone object?EDIT: It's also 5 minutes shorter than the OST's Mischeif Managed.
fommes 126
I don't object at all of course But I should add that I've resurrected this thread so others could already have it.
Indiana_Fett 0
Ah. It's only Mischeif Managed, with the OST version of Window to the Past and Buckbeak's flight. I really want that Potter suite.
futuremartymcfly 0
OMG, something is messed up, someone else tell me if the Pirates of the Carribean sound clip preview thing actually sounds really calm and soothing, and actually beautiful when they play it. Morlock 9
I must say, it does sound rather decent on the 'Epics' compilation of there's (I assume it's the same clip). The clip certainly gives the impression of a score far better than the one we've got. Aside from the action music, which sounds just as bad here as it does in the film (although it did sound quite good in Black Hawk Down). And is it just me, or does some of MI:3 bare a resemblance to the main action motif from this film (the one copied from Black Hawk Down, aslo used in Command and Conquer: Generals)? (the brief motif presented, among other places, at around 2:52 into "Humpty Dumpty Sat On A Wall" on piano. The first six notes identical....temp score-itis?). nightscape94 965
Are you people talking about this Harry Potter music? It's a Silva release. Did they just transport the same recordings over to the box set?Tim
fommes 126
The box set was first. The Silva Potter album was only released recently - and my question was if the recording from the box appears on the Silva album too, or does it contain only different recordings... Ray Barnsbury 8
I finally heard the suite when I bought the aforementioned HP Album by Silva. It's an all-right arrangement, and their performance of Buckbeak provides an interesting alternative to the original (it's more legato, making it sound a tad more dramatic and rich). What I'd really love to have now is the enigmatic PoA version of Harry's Wondrous World.Ray Barnsbury

Docteur Qui 1,248
What's different about the PoA version of Harry's Wondrous World?? I'm yet to hear which themes make an appearence in it, if any at all.
nightscape94 965
It was never even recorded, was it? I thought it existed on paper, but in the end they decided they didn't need the Harry's Wondrous World cue for PoA, and the cut and paste job, that is currently in the movie and album, is the replacement.Tim
Docteur Qui 1,248
It may be a cut and paste job, but that first three minutes is pure magic.
Indiana_Fett 0
I heard it was played at a concert, but vno one recorded it.
nightscape94 965
Yes, the first couple of minutes is great, and certainly gives you an idea of how good a PoA version of Harry's Wondrous World would be.Tim
Docteur Qui 1,248
But wouldn't it essentially be rehash anyway, because it's Harry's Wondrous world? At least Michief Managed is recycled from the same album, not the previous two movies.Added to that, considering none of the themes from that suite make an appearence in PoA, it would seem a little jarring to hear them blended with the new ones on the end credits (even if it was nice continuity). Ray Barnsbury 8
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was played at a concert, but never recorded. I believe Wael/ocelot told us that it was originally intended for the end credits of PoA, but was eventually scrapped. Shame.Ray Barnsburey
King Mark 2,924
The PoA version of Harry's Wondrous world was played at a Hollywood Bowl concert in 2004,but that night no one recorded it.The next day Williams played the regular HWW.I'd like to hear a better description of it if anyone who was at the concert remembers it.Was the melody changed?,or was it just an insert of Double Troube or some other PoA theme somewhere in the piece? Â I believe Wael/ocelot told us that it was originally intended for the end credits of PoA, but was eventually scrapped. At the time, that kind of statement made me believe ocelot/wael heard the complete recording sessions of PoA ...K.M. Mr. Breathmask 480
Remember Wael was also the first one to report Patrick Doyle would score GoF.That was even before the crazy Franz Ferdinand rumors started.

I figured that the new HWW wouldn't contain any of the old themes, but be a similar suite, in structure, as the old one. Again, only in structure, but would have all the new themes. To me, the phrase "Harry's Wondrous World" is just a summation of all the themes in, well....Harry's world, and is only specific to that film, and to those particular themes used in that film. It would be something that changes with each passing phase.Tim
Docteur Qui 1,248
I could see your point if the suite in CoS was different, but as it was...(I know that the circumstances surrounding that score and Williams are vague at best, but you get the point)
