Should I Get The Batman Soundtrack?

I just wondered.. it's available for £4.99 in HMV - and I confess - I've never seen the film or heard the score (the 1989 Elfman one). Should I get it? I've seen quite a few positive reviews.

They've got quite a few good deals on there at the moment - AOTC and TPM OSTs for £2.99 each, and most other things for £4.99.

Don't forget Batman Forever.

Run!!!!!

Just kidding. Terrible movie, good score. Almost the same for Batman and Robin; "Movie," Good score.

Get Batman Returns while you're at it too

Ah, "Birth of a Penguin - Part 1" is a joy to listen to . . . as is Celina's crazy scene (don't know the track title).

Batman is a pretty great score. I have been going through a Elfman revival recently and Dick Tracy has some excellent writing in it too. I'm beginning to think that Elfman is a bit underrated considering his entire body of work.

Yep, got it, listening to it now.

Rob - who was puzzled when he saw two identical versions of the Attack of the Clones OST, one for £2.99 and the other for £15.99. Then I saw that the £15.99 one was the version WITHOUT the bonus track.

This surely accounts for the difference. ;)

Batman Returns is a quite underrated score; richer and more fun than the first one.

Get it! Now!

Batman Returns suffers heavily from the terrible acoustics of the hall it was recorded in. Nevertheless, I still think the original Batman is not that much better than "Returns". The finale and the end titles are terrific.

If you've absolutely got to have one of Goldenthal's efforts, get Batman & Robin.

Personally,I think if you have a "Batman Suite" from Elfman on a compilation c.d.,then you don't need the whole c.d.Batman Returns is good for the Main Titles.

Not possible, since a legit album was never released.

I enjoy Goldenthal's Batman Forever score as well.

Anyway, the best performance of Elfman's score (In my opinion) is the ~15 minute suite on the Erich Kunzel/Cincinatti Pops "Fantastic Journey" CD, even more than the OST. Theres also suites on Silva (The Fantasy Album) and Varese (Batman Trilogy)...but I prefer the telarc recording.
