robthehand 3
OK, I meant to ask this AGES ago when I saw the film, but I forgot:When I saw WOTW, the film randomly switched off (not the sound though) from the point where the people on the ferry see the swirling in the water, and the part on the hill just before Robbie goes off. What happened there? It was just... black... when I saw it.And yes, I did get a full refund.
Jeshopk 8
A tripod comes from beneath the water and tips the ferry. The Cruise family gets slammed by a car sliding off the ferry, but they swim to the surface, then to the shore. Tripods grab people from the water with their tentacles. The Cruise family climbs a little mountain and hides in the brush. They watch the carnage from their point of relative safety. A tripod slams into the mountain raining dirt upon them. After it passes over them, the tripod rains clothes of the dead on the family as they walk through the woods.
JMan 0
The shot where they make it to the surface and look behind them is a great piece of cinemtography. I believe the music really helps there too. Its Track N. 3 on the soudntrack and is the huge brass motif in the middle.

SturgisPodmore 0
But the best part of the movie is the secret joke during the ferry scene after the tripod comes; it's so funny, you can only understand it if you see it in the context of the film . . . too bad you had to miss it.~Sturgis
Ray Barnsbury 8
Yeah, that part was so funny it made me re-evaluate my life. I can't imagine living without having experienced that.Ray Barnsbury
