On the E.T. DVD, what *exactly* is the so-called "isolated music score"? I was aware that it wasn't an isolated score in the normal sense when I bought it - but can someone tell me exactly what it is?

It's a recording of a life performance of the entire E.T. score during a special 20th Anniversary showing of the film.

The recording matches all the timings of the film, but also have audience and other unwanted noise.

To create one of the greatest mysteries of the new century.

Some 500 Years from now the great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson of Dan Brown will devote a novel to it, thrilling the world.

But right now most of us are just pissed of about it.

For the true unreleased score you'd need the Lazerdisk, and a working Lazerdisk player,if they still exist.

There is about 4 cues still unreleased

Into the Cornfield

Stuffed Animals

Ellot's Kiss

E.T. is Dying

I have 4 working Laserdisc players sitting in my house right now.

I'll probably invest in the E.T. laserdisc so I no longer need to rely on the MD King Mark once send me.

There aren't too many unreleased cues though are there?

 Its the 'alternate' live recording what we want. We all have the original score...

Including Universal logo + ET theme Williams performance (i prefer the non-live though)

Welll, then you could rip in WAV instead of ATRAC,but I don't think it will sound much better...but if you do send it to me.

It would have been impossible to release the re-recorded score isolated without dialgoue and effects since it was recorded live with the dialogue and effects playing. The only possible way we could have gotten this isolated is if a rehearsal had been recorded, and that's only if the dialogue and effects weren't present there either.
