robthehand 3
Which is your favourite recording of the Star Wars main title? I haven't heard many of the re-recordings (I imagine Gerhardt's is.... good ) so I'd have to say Empire.
deimos 0
ANH, since it's the original.
Incanus 5,519
For me the best version has to be John Williams conducting LSO on the Hollywood Sound CD. It is just perfect.
Luke Skywalker 1,284
SW or ANH.For me it has the most epic beggining and its the original...
nightscape94 965
We're only counting the main title, right? Not any of the tags like "Rebel Blockade Runner", correct? If we're stickly sticking to the 2 minutes of opening music, I would have to say "Jedi" because it is played nicely and the sound quality is much much better the previous two.Tim, who would vote for SW if he could include "Rebel Blockade Runner" because it's a nice tight little package (don't look at me like that you pervs!), but is conflicted because of the sound quality. robthehand 3
Well - since it was all recorded as one long cue, you could probably count it in.
Luke Skywalker 1,284
not fair to the others...
batmanand 0
I actually prefer the Prequel Main titles. Partly it is the better sound quality, partly I like the brass playing better.

Incanus 5,519
Why ESB Main Title? It is poor compared to the others IMO. The orchestration is so odd. I am just wondering what is the charm since many (well there is the multitude of 3 who have picked it) have picked the ESB.

And while the bumped-up snare drum from the prequels is okay, I like it better without. So ESB it is.

Trumpeteer 243
Star Wars is the best. I loooooove the French horn in taht version, as well as the opening blast.Empire is a close second. Lots of great orchestrations there, like the crescendo of the trumpet near the end.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 10,251
The recording on the Star Wars/CE3K CD by Gerhardt and the NPO.Nothing even comes close. The version from SW/ANH sounds rather tinny and the TPM recording is just plain dull. MrScratch 292
I really love the performances/recordings of both Star Wars and Empire, Star Wars gets the nod just because it's the original.Jeff

mcdaid72000 0
Out of the three prequel movies though I like Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. The song fits the action very well and John Williams Should have won an oscar for the Soundtrack to Revenge of the Sith. It was disappointing to see it lose. Battle of the Heroes is another reason it should have won an oscar. This two songs make the soundtrack #1. #2 on my list is Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. #3 Episode II; #4 Episode VI #5 Episode IV and #6 Episode I. Mr. Breathmask 480
Song? What song?Run, newbie, run! ;)btw, RotS was written this year, so it won't be up for Oscars until next year's ceremony
