This is certainly promising for the franchise. Although I've said it a million times, I'll say it again... too bad this new direction didn't include Brosnan. This is where they should have gone with the character a long time ago.

I wonder if they are going to make it a contemporary movie or not. If they want to explain his origins and show his first love, they would have to go back to the fifties or sixties. But they don't want to include the cold war...

So what's it gonna be?

Guess so too. Going back to the fifties wouldn't be feasible I guess. Perhaps the origin-stuff is done in flash-backs or something.

Nice to see a photo of Craig as Bond, by the way. I doubted his ability to play Bond, but this photo makes me feel a little more optimistic. And the article sounds promising indeed.

I'm optimistic because of Martin Cambell. He is one of the few directors who knows how to combine fast pace and ultimate clearity in his action-sequences. And he made the best Brosnan-Bond with GoldenEye IMO.

Campbell gives me hope too. GoldenEye is one of the best Bond films of all time, and a great action film on its own too. The Mask of Zorro is also very good and a lot of fun (haven't seen the sequel yet, might check it out if I have nothing better to do). Those two films even make me forgive that horrible Vertical Limit movie.

I hope they don't try to explain everything. We really don't need to know, I think.

What is it these days, with all these 'Genesis'-movies?

Usually I would say running out of ideas, the dumbing down of film audiences. You would think we would have an Emmet Brown origins story about how he got so nutty and survives decade decade looking exactly the same.

But with Casino Royale, considering how many Bond movies have been made, it sounds like a good direction to take the franchise. I'm looking really forward to it. I see how he was brutally tortured and this woman helps him come back. I thought the torture in DAD was pretty bad, so I'm curious as to what this is going to do to him.

He visited a rejuvination clinic when he went to the future. :(

Maybe now they can get James Horner to do the music?? Complete with opening title song by Ceiling Dior.

I don't know. Perhaps it adds another mythical dimension to stories. Perhaps it addresses the innermost feelings of the spectators by touching the genesis of characters - thus becoming the most and most effective amount of catharsis or something.

I agree about Bond by the way, only a real pity it isn't Brosnan.
