Mr. Breathmask 480
KongisKing.net says it should be back up soon. The Inside Look over at Apple features some footage of Kong taking out a biplane. Nice. Also, I don't know if you know this already, but I read in the paper last week Jackson's film clocks in at around three hours. That's twice as long as the original. I didn't realize this was going to be such a big film.

JohnF 0
awesome. Nuff said. That last shot of Kong taking a swipe at a biplane almost made me cheer... I have a feeling this is going to be a thrill ride, and tug at the heart strings... Can't wait to hear what Howard's rushed score will sound like. I can hear "Dinosaur" all over it... Romão 1,931
The effects look so-so in several scenes, but this could be a lot of fun.Curiously, the used JNH's (or Hans Zimmer's) music from Batman Begins in the trailer.
nightscape94 965
I watched the massive Hi-Def version, which cleaned it up a lot. It looks fantastic. nightscape94 965
I'm only about 15 minutes away from a Best Buy in Delaware (live in Pa), so it wouldn't be that much of a bother with sales tax since that state doesn't have it (along with Alaska/Montana/New Hampshire/Oregon), but I don't have to pay for shipping either and I'm getting it about $20 cheaper then the list price.Tim
Ray Barnsbury 8
Meh, the movie just looks so utterly ridiculous from everything I've seen! The whole dramatic uncharted island, random dinosaurs, and then Kong in New York...I just don't get a good feel for it. Plus, the effects look really poor to my eyes. Mighty Joe Young looked better than this, c'mon!Ray Barnsbury - only anticipating the score

GoodMusician 53
I know this is gonna be a "duh" moment but, I really feel the music failed that trailer...That their could have been better music chosen for it. I realize that the score that SHOULD have accompanied it was rejected but still, they could have found something a little more... I found it... lacking...I'm not saying anything LOOKED bad... as the graphics were wonderful, and the trailer it self was quite riveting...I'm definately going to see the movie...It's just I feel the music failed that trailer... completely lolI liked the composition of the original trailer...Also...not sure I like how the t-rex sounds... reminds me of an aligator... but... I dunno... not sure I like it... lol

Incanus 5,519
It would seem they changed it a bit. Looks better IMO even though it is not total make over they have done. I have not been following what is happening with this movie (except that Shore got sacked) but I must say that when I saw the trailer Jackson's earlier movies (LOTR for the most part) came into mind very strongly. It is a PJ movie so it looks like PJ movie. He has e very personal visual style. The night scene where there were torches looked like Helm's Deep alot). I am not that interested in these remakes and King Kong is the last hing that needed a remake. Remakes are what influential and rich film makers direct to sate their childhood craving of "I wish I had made that movie".

Pieter Boelen 633
The movie looks quite good to me. I love the time setting. Great time setting for a good adventure movie, which it seems to be. I also don't mind that James Newton Howard has replaced Howard Shore. Of course I cannot make a good judgement, having only ever heard the LotR music by Howard Shore, but the LotR music was, although excellent, not really fun and adventurous. So I don't know if Howard Shore would come up with some good adventurous, bombastic and fun music. On the other hand, James Newton Howard has written some very fine music for adventure movies already (Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Hidalgo, Waterworld, Dinosaur and, to a slightly lesser extent, Treasure Planet), so I'm hoping for some nice and fun adventure music from James Newton Howard. Even if it won't be Oscar-worthy, I still expect it to be fun.
David Coscina 3
Curiously, the "Making Of.." segment found on the Quicktime site appears to have some Shore music underscoring the interviews with Jack Black and Peter Jackson. Whether it's new material or something from Shore's existing canon is the question. I thought I heard some 7even styled string/brass chords with those open sus4 chords. Sounded good actually. The Media Ventures crap they used for the trailer made Kong look AWFUL. Luckily, I know JN HOward will produce a more vibrant, lyrical score than the trailer nonsense. Still bummed by the fact that we lost a possibly classic Shore score but maybe they'll release it as an added marketing thing in the future.....we can only hope. Orson 1
I too have my reservations about this. The time period has me intriqued as well and I am curious to see if Jackson can pull that aspect off. So far, that's looking pretty good. While I do like the design of Kong, the dinosaurs look pretty weak and some of the action stuff came off as a bit candy coated. I'm really afraid the Uruk-Hai looking tribe on the island is going to bother me too. But having said all of that, I remain cautiously optimistic. Remember he was asked by Zimmer to help out. That loud action music is a staple of Zimmer's, mostly because he feels like doubling real instruments with his synths giving the over-all sound a synthetic one. Howard tends to score for acoustic instruments unadorned by electronics. If he does double strings with synths, it's usually sampled harmonics for a softer quality. He admitted this practice in a very informative KEYBOARD interview around the time he was scoring Dinosaur.

From the trailer, it looks like a cool movie, but the trailer itself doesn't work to well, it lacks music that actually manages to bind it together.Any direct download links to the HD trailer?
