To be honest, I have no need for a Batman score in my CD collection. None of them reach the greatness of the best moments of Superman The Movie. Enough said, methinks.

My vote goes to Elfman's Batman Returns. Not only does it weave the fantastic fanfare and pomp of the first film into the score, but it also introduces new themes suited to the nature of the film and a lovely word-less choir effect for extra measure.

Meh...I guess i've always been a sucker for Christmas-y music. Consequently, I suppose that's why I like a lot of Elfman's works.

That makes two of us.

The Goldenthals. As I've heard the second one only once so far (in the film), I went with Forever. I don't know the Shirley Walker score, but as for the others, they're not in the same class as the Goldenthals.

Marian - who needs B&R.

Goldenthal's scores just don't grab me like Elfman's. Elfman's music is timeless while Goldenthal's is "A"mbitious.

My Ranking

1)Batman

2)Batman Returns

3)Mask of Phantasm

3.5) Neil Hefti 60s scores

4)Batman Forever

5)Batman and Robin

6)Batman Begins

I'm surprised Neil went with a sequel score over the original.

I love Elliot Goldenthal's work on "Batman Forever."

Don't I usually stick with quality? :)

Neil
