Also, in another season, as I said another time, there's an episode in which Homer talks with God, and God remove the Simpsons' house roof. There, an Ark Theme similar choir, which Marc called "heavenly choir". That's kinda true, but the melody is similar (and pretty appropriate).

By the way Tommy; I love wrestling too.

Man, you know how I feel.

Sure I know you love wrestling too. I remembered one time you said so, and remember Stefan replying to you saying "I don't see the fun in see half-naked men".

Sorry for the off-topic, I opened a thread for Eddie if you're interested.

My favorite television show of all time anywhere, TopGear on BBC2 and The Discovery Channel, used "Hymn to the Fallen" during a segment comparing the current and last generation of the Prosche 911, as well as the opening chorus of "Duel of the Fates" (just Korah Ratamah) in, if I remember correctly, the beginning of a track test of the Maserati Quattroporte.

Channel: ITV1

Music used: Jurassic Park (journey to the island I think) and ET "Flying" theme

When: Pre-credit reminder of what's gone on so far in the latest series of "I'm A Celebrity - Get Me Out Of Here".....they must have bought a sci-fi themes CD, as this week they have also used Battlestar Galactica (Philips), a section from Star Trek: Generations and all sorts of others for the same sequence.....

I used to have The Raiders March as monophonic in my old Nokia.

When I bought my actual Samsung cellular (in the end of 2003, without that useless stuff called photocamera) among the available ringtones there was one called "Indy". Of course I was thinking of The Raiders March, but it's not related to Indy.

It's funny anyways, and in Indy style somehow. :)

Not "on" but rather "at"...

Location: A Mall in downtown Portland, Oregon

Music heard: "Reunion and Finale" from SLEEPERS

I forget the name of the mall, but it has a huge, 3- or 4-level rotunda where I heard the music.

It stopped me dead in my tracks, with a huge smile on my face. I'm sure I looked insane.

And I was pleasantly surprised at how loud it was playing.

On a related note, I heard music from E. Bernstein's TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD in the men's restroom of The Cheesecake Factory at Tyson's Galleria Mall in McLean, VA. I had a good laugh at that.

Earlier this semester, I heard the trumpets from my university's marching band blasting the Raiders March every week as I walked to class. They were practicing for a film music show. They sucked.

I hate monophonic ringtones, so annoying. So since I used to have a monophonic cell phone I had the habit of turn the ringtone off when I was in public, and I still do it even if I have the more comfortable polyphonic tunes.

I'll probably keep this habit untill I'll buy a cell with real sound ringtones, so I'll be able to set the melody straight from the CD. Only problem is that when someone call, I don't answer because I wanna listen the whole theme. LOL

"Imperial March" was featured in a Star Wars Battlefront II ad.

Also, last night, a TV news magazine was doing a segment on the three major evening news programs (CBS Evening News, NBC Nightly News, and ABC World News Tonight). Needless to say, the only program which had its music featured was NBC Nightly News, with Williams's "The Mission."

Max Factor uses Memoirs of a Geisha music for their new commercial.

I was listening to JW's score for Memoirs of a Geisha the other day while my roommate was watching TV.

Suddenly I heard a statement of Sayuri's theme which I knew could not be part of the track I was listening to at that moment. It was quite strange hearing two parts of the score at the same time.

A really weird moment. I thought I was going mad.

Can't wait to see and hear the commercial again.

Also, being an Egypt-based attraction, there's something from Raiders of the Lost Ark. I'm 100% sure about it.

Not sure which theme, though.

Ciao! :)

Mirko - who didn't remember the Star Wars music in that Gardaland's attraction.

On: WJFK, 106.7 FM (in the Washington DC area)

When: Heard numerous times over the past few weeks

What: "Star of Bethlehem" used as background music for a Mervis Diamond Importers commercial.

Mervis consistently uses film music in its commercials (Goldsmith's THE MUMMY and something from Barry that I can't recall right now, maybe OUT OF AFRICA).

I saw British comedy trio The League of Gentlemen on Saturday night live at the Apollo theatre in Hammersmith (they’re a quartet actually if I’m going to be pedantic about this, but the fourth, Jeremy Dyson, does not perform).

Anyway, during one sequence pen obsessive and self confessed hater of “dole scum” Pauline beckons out her arch nemesis Ross, who strode out to the Imperial March. It was a re-recording, but a decent one I have to say. They were filming it on Saturday for a DVD release, so re-recordings and cover versions made sense given the circumstances.

  • 2 weeks later...

I was at a service at my local church last night and was delighted to hear the organist play the main theme from SL. I dunno if anyone else knew it but it brought a tear to my eye.

Okay, she played Westlife's new single too (which is actually a traditional tune) but she can be forgiven for that. :|

Continuing the theme of sublime to ridiculous - I used to sing bass in an Oxford College chapel choir. One day evensong coincided with Valentine's Day. The organist - who shall remain nameless - played variations on the theme from "Love Story".

Mine plays the five note call from CE3K.

Mine plays Cantina band #1. Amazing how many people say: I have heard that before but don't have a clue of what it is.

Just saw the Seinfeld episode, I think it's called "The Race", in which Jerry has to race an old school mate because he was accused of getting a head start. They use the title Superman march.

I heard Jubilee 350 this morning on Sirius Pops on Sirius satellite radio. Earlier in the day I heard the theme from Goldsmiths The Russia House.

At about 12:01 on New Year's Day on the radio they played Williams' E.T. theme (the flying theme) or as they put it:

"Jonathan Williams' E.T. Main Title Theme"

That was a nice surprise.
