MSM 85
I'm sure you know exactly how a real T-Rex moves ... And UGLY doesn't automatically mean UNREALISTIC. Do you think an A- grade company like Weta wouldn't do some serious research before designing the dinosaurs.1) He could be a paleontologist... Who knows? EDIT: Nevermind, Luke is a veterinarian. Nonetheless, he probably knows quite a bit about muscle movements, animals, their relationship, and so on.2) You'd be surprised how much corner-cutting can get past the average moviegoing public.3) That's why he said conjecture.Read McNeill Alexander's 'Dynamics of Dinosaurs'. This scientific book gives an in-depth view in biodynamics of dinosaurs and is very fun to read.
Luke Skywalker 1,285
And sorry rolad, i think Kong is grat but the rexes do not move realistically. The scene in the shallow water is awful IMO. And they are UGLY, and look more than retroevoluted... (i would think an evoluted rex would loose his little arms and have bigger head... but thats just conjetures of mine...)I'm sure you know exactly how a real T-Rex moves ... And UGLY doesn't automatically mean UNREALISTIC. Do you think an A- grade company like Weta wouldn't do some serious research before designing the dinosaurs.I said they are ugly as a further discontempt for me.I not saying they move that bad (i wrote badly saying they didnt move realistically, they dont move as realistically as roald thinks), but i prefer the JP movements. I find the kong ones too slow as if the rexes were tired or were sluggish. They dont move like vicious carnivores they seem to be.I just found this:PJ has said the crocodile skin is an homage to old way of vieing dinosaurs like in the old movie (sad because people may think they were that way, but if its an homage then its ok) and the dinosaurs are supposed to be 65 MY evoluted. Though the raptors, i mean venatosaurus, are not going to be much different or more intelligent...) And they wanted to create monsters, so then its fine how they 'look'.I also found that Jack Horner has found 'younger'(for 3 million years) T-rexes with smaller arms (because of evolution).By the way, island animals evolute to be smaller, due to the lack of food and space. This rexes are bigger...I tried to find evidence of Jackson hiring a paleontologist. I dindt find nothing, but im sure they have to have one or at least animal consultants.Oh and i have studied animal anatomy, and i like dinosaurs and birds as much as Star Wars (hope you get the idea 8O )
pixie_twinkle 44
he can move realistically, but he looks (design) artificial. (sorry i didnt explained myself well)What you maybe meant to say is that you own a time machine and that you know what an actual T-Rex looks like.Actually I HAVE got a time machine, and when I went back in time I was pleasantly surprised to see the dinosaurs walking around with jerky 16-frames per second movements. Turns out Ray Harryhausen had it right all along!
Jeshopk 8
That first dinosaur we see,the brachiosaurus reaching into the tree, was never convincing, even in 1993. K.M.I concur. Some of his muscles and textures were jumping around a bit, like you could see the segmenting. The TREX looked much better. But that distant shot when grant looks at them moving in herds is perfect.
