How Big Is Your John Williams Collection?

;)

Considering you have some hard to find stuff, like Jaws 2 and Dracula, I'm surprised you don't have the following:

Hook (a must)

Close Encounters of the Third Kind

A.I.

Tim, suggest you pick up Hook as soon as possible.

I don't have Hook either, I search some of the CD stores in Sydney Australia for Hook, neither have Hook.

Well, why should I get the easy to find stuff first? And Close Encounters is already on my list :spiny:

I wanted to get Hook for quite some time, but somehow never managed to get it.

My Williams CD collection is over 350-400 I think. Haven't counted it in awhile. The only person that I know has more pressed Willias CDs than me is Miguel, who collects everything even slightly related to good ol' JTW!!! ;)

I'll keep it simple: I have a pressed CD of every single John Williams soundtrack and expanded score released in CD format (except for Yes, Giorgio, which only has 2 Williams tracks anyways, but I still have a CDR of that). I also have every bootlegged expanded score in either pressed CD or CDR. Also several LPs. Did many myself via DVD extract or LP recording. I also have countless Boston Pops and rerecording CDs, but they aren't a priority on my list like soundtracks & scores.

My list is on the trading board, or hit the link on my signature. (Although most older members know me enough to know this, the younger ones may not.) Which reminds me... time to put Geisha and Munich on my list.

My williams collection seems to be quite okay (i hope) with 36 original CDs. It is actually the biggest position for a single artist in my collection (with Jerry being the second @ 31 and Elmer the third @ 21).

If i would count the bootlegs and CD-r copies that number should increase very much but i never count these secondary recordings as an actual part of the collection so here we go:

Always - OST

Angela's Ashes - OST (no narration)

Artificial Intelligence - OST

Close Encounters Of The Third Kind - Collector's Edition

E.T. The Extra Terrestrial - Anniversary Edition

Far and Away - OST

Fitzwilly + The Long Goodbye - Varese Club CD

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - OST

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone - OST

Heidi Kehrt Heim - OST

Home Alone 2: Lost In New York - Varese Club CD

Hook - OST

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - OST

Jane Eyre - OST

Jaws - Collector's Edition + OST

JFK - OST

Jurassic Park - OST

Nixon - OST

Penelope (+ Bachelor In Paradise) - FSM

Saving Private Ryan - OST

Schindler's List - OST

Star Wars - Ep. 1: The Phantom Menace - OST + UE

Star Wars - Ep. 2: Attack Of The Clones - OST

Star Wars - Ep. 3: Revenge Of The Sith - OST

Star Wars - Ep. 4: A New Hope - Special Edition

Star Wars - Ep. 5: The Empire Strikes Back - Special Edition

Star Wars - Ep. 6: Return Of The Jedi - Special Edition

Superman - 2-CD Rhino

The Eiger Sanction - OST

The Fury - Varese CD Club

The Lost World: Jurassic Park - OST

The Man Who Loved Cat Dancing - FSM

The Patriot - OST

The River - OST

I would really love to have the CDs of the first two indy scores as well as some other OOP discs but i would never pay more than 25 euro for a (single) CD and so far i haven't found them for such a low price (which will never happen anyways). But that price tag is a border which is very important to me.

I am quite prowd of such amazing finds like Always, The Eiger Sanction or JFK which i have all aquired used in excellent condition for less than 20 euros.

Even after the expanded albums, you gotta' still keep the original, Mark! For example (As you know with ET as you kept all three releases I see) many times there are special tracks that somehow get missed on expanded editions (for those of you who think you have it all with the anniversary ET albums, you're missing one of the best concert tracks of Williams caceer in ET and Me). And occasionally the combined album tracks are a better listen than the seperated expanded versions. Although I prefer expanded versions most of the time, I still need the original/condensed versions too. Sometimes I got the expanded CDs before the original/condensed ones. :)

But I do agree that once the original is released, a rececording is a bit overkill (I always like the originals over re-recordings anway... who conducts Williams better than Williams himself? He wrote it, he knows how it should flow!).

All his official c.d.'s . ,which is over 130 c.d.'s

I only keep bootlegs on cdr's and MP3 form and don't count them (I don't makes fake covers for them and put them in a cd shelf)

When you say official CD's, do you include compilations? Or just purely OSTs? Cause I'm pretty sure there aren't over 130 of those.

yes ,I count the Williams conducted Boston Pops compilations that have at least one piece of his music on them.(Example :America the Dream goes On) .Also his concert works c.d.'s like Treesong.

I'm not counting the non Williams conducted compilations .

maybe it's a bit less than 130 .Between 110 and 120 or so

I took those into acount .Like 3 Supermans,3 E.T.'s ,2 Jaws,3 Raiders...

I guess it's easier to say the ones I'm missing:

a few FSM 60's comedy titles like Mr.Chips,Penelope,John Goldfarb,A Guide to the Married Man , Checkmate,Diamond Head...

Okay since there was a complaint in the Indiana Jones thread...thought I'd repost this here. So here's once again my small John Williams collection. For the record there are about 14 other CD's I plan to hopefully buy next year.

You know, FSM reissued that soundtrack a couple months ago. It's only like 15 dollars.

Thanks, I will get that! ;)

Whoops! I just realized... I don't have Jane Eyre the actual CD. I only have it on my iTunes. I once borrowed it from a friend...

So another CD I have to get!

But Jaws 2 and Angelas Ashes, I both have on CDs.

I just noticed those Star Wars CD's.

Greg, can you give us some in site on what those specifically are?

Anthology CD's, my own edits, a couple of expanded versions, "Revelations" and one or two others....nothing earth-shattering, I'm afraid!
