pixie_twinkle 44
Does anyone else remember this amazing show? Late 70s silliness from Japan (but set in middle ages China), the plot revolved around a group of strange misfits journeying from China to India. Monkey was a crazy monkey-god who fought with a size-changing stick, and rode around on a big pink puffy cloud. Pigsy was a pig-demon who fought with a muck-rake and shagged everything in sight. Sandy was a fish-demon who was very dim. They travelled with a dragon disguised as a horse who eventually became a human, and a young boy priest called Tripitaka who everyone fancied because he was actually played by a girl. Oh, and the theme song was great! I've just ordered the whole series on Amazon for £40. I know this doesn't have much to do with Williams but I'm excited to see it again after all these years and was wondering if anyone else out there remembers it. Mr. Breathmask 480
Sounds like something to watch when you're stoned. But maybe that's just me. - Marc, who first thought this thread was about Sony.
pixie_twinkle 44
Sounds like something to watch when you're stoned. Actually.... Oh and I forgot to mention, the dubbing was very funny! I have no idea who they got to dub the voices into English, but they really sounded like they were enjoying every second! I'm sure the original voices weren't half as entertaining.Ok, I'll stop adding to my own thread for a while as that always looks a bit egotistic

Jeshopk 8
Sounds like the Legend of Son-Son. Isn't this cloud-flying shrinking stick monkey the basis for the Dragonball character? He's a Chinese legend.

No for some reason I never caught that show. I see it's also been released on DVD by the same company that did the Monkey set. Any good?I'm tempted to get the book of stories that the show is based on. What a fantastic legend!By the way, thanks for the link Melange. It's fascinating. I had no idea of the history of the series!
