riselordvader 0
Hi everyone. Just recently I received the King Kong score and after only having seen the movie twice, it is rather difficult to identify what is happening when in the music. I also believe that some of the tracks are out of chronological order. Could somebody please help start a list of the tracks in the correct order and with a small description of what is happening at various points in the music? Thank you and I enjoy being a part of this site!
Dark_Avenger 0
1) King KongMain title2) Defeat Is Always MomentaryStarts when Carl is telling Preston to get the cast and crew on the ship right away, pretty much goes all the way up to when...3) A Fateful MeetingAnne stands in front of the burlesque (sp) house and decides against going. Plays through her stealing the apple and talking with Carl, I believe.4) Two GrandScores the scene where Carl "writes" a check for $2000 to Jack so he can stall and keep him on the ship.5) The Venture DepartsThat's basically it.6) It's In the SubtextI don't remember all the scenes exactly, but I know it scores the part where Jack tells Anne he was writing a play for her or something like that... One of those romantic tension flings.7) Last Blank Space On the MapI think this is when the storm conditions force the Venture to Skull Island.8) It's DesertedFirst adventure on Skull Island (where they encounter the natives). Dunno what scene closes it.9) A Monster... Neither Beast Nor ManKong's entrance, I believe.I'm not positive on the order of the next four (10-13), so correct me if I'm wrong on them.10) Head Towards the AnimalsI think this was the Brontosaurus stampede.11) That's All There IsAnne does her vaudeville routine for Kong, Kong pushes her over for his amusement... That's about it.12) Tooth and ClawKong's fight with the T-Rex's.13) BeautifulThe sunset scene where Anne says "Beautiful."14) CapturedDefinitely the part where the sailors catch Kong, I dunno what specific part(s) it plays through.15) Central ParkI believe this one starts when Kong's rampage halts when he sees Anne in the middle of the street, plays all the way through their moment up to when the army interrupts their ice-skating.16) The Empire State BuildingKong climbs the said building.17-21) Beauty Killed the BeastThese all follow the last stand against the aeroplanes. I renamed them as follows:17) Top of the World18) Attack of the Aeroplanes19) Retaliation20) Beautiful -- Requiem for Kong21) Beauty Killed the BeastThe last two are the only ones I'm sure on - 20 has the second "Beautiful" scene and encompasses Kong's fall from the building (underscored by that little chorus boy number), and 21 is the aftermath where the crowd gathers around the body. While I'm at it, does anyone know what track(s) specifically were used from the 1933 score for the Kong On Broadway part and his subsequent escape? riselordvader 0
Thank you very much so far! Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't part of "Englehorn to the Rescue" (where Baxter is swinging on the vine) the same as what is used in "Fire!" (particularly when Kong is swinging around the unfinished building while escaping the military)? That's one of my favorite parts of the score and I would be relieved if it is on the soundtrack even if it was on a different track.Edit: I just read the article and answered my own question. Do you think there will be a "Complete Recording" of some sort for Kong?
BigMacGyver 0
That moment you have mentioned which contains the heroic theme is my favorite one and the moment at the end when Kong swings through the construction site sadly represents the one and only variation on that material. It would have been great if they included it on the CD before "Empire State Building" since it is just a little over one minute of music anyways.Sadly, i doubt that we will ever see a "complete recordings" release for Kong (i guess you are refering to the LOTR releases). The movie is not doing really well at the box office and Universal is generally not open-minded for releasing expanded editions of their scores. To add to that, they recorded the entire score (3 hours) with a damn large orchestra in Los Angeles which means high re-use fees to pay in case of another release.I am afraid the chances for a complete release are very slim.
