BigMacGyver 0
Lukas Kendall announced on the FSM board that the releases of Beneath The 12-mile Reef and the double feature Patton & Flight Of The Phoenix are down to less than 50 copies. The release of Leonard Rosenman's score for The Fantastic Voyage is sold out.Other low titles are (according to Kendall):STAGECOACH/THE LONERTHE RETURN OF DRACULA - A few hundred left.PRINCE VALIANTMONTE WALSHPRINCE OF FOXESALL ABOUT EVERIO CONCHOSBENEATH THE PLANET OF THE APESA GUIDE FOR THE MARRIED MANBATMAN - last 200, going fastTHE FRENCH CONNECTION - last 200, going fastTHE BRAVADOSTHE WORLD OF HENRY ORIENTIf you have hesitated to get any of these CD's yet, now might be a good time to invest. Especially the early Williams score might be of high interest for John Williams fans.
ST-321 4
I didn't know that Patton was available. I have the Patton / Tora! Tora! Tora! release and wasn't to pleased with it. Jerry Goldsmith's Patton (1970) is, by any standard, one of the most moving, effective and memorable film scores ever written. A model of economy and judicious spotting, the score clocks in at little more than a half hour in length . . . I see that the total time of the Patton score on the cd is 76:24. So was ~46 minutes of music written and not used?!?
Seth 67
I think the other 46 minutes is Frank DeVol's music to Flight of the Phoenix.
ST-321 4
You are correct! The way it is listed on the site confused me: 1. Patton Main Title (3:08) 2. The Battle Ground (2:14) 3. The Cemetery (2:42) 4. First Battle (2:49) 5. The Funeral (1:53) 6. The Hospital (3:36) 7. The Prayer (1:09) 8. No Assignment (2:21) 9. Entr'acte (1:52) 10. Attack (3:14) 11. German Advance (2:31) 12. An Eloquent Man (1:42) 13. The Pay-Off (2:24) 14. A Change in the Weather (1:24) 15. Pensive Patton/End Titles (2:33) Total Time: 76:24 All music Previously Unreleased The Flight of the Phoenix 16. Airborne (0:55) 17. Main Title (4:58) 18. Windy/Heartbreak (2:41) 19. Brave Sergeant (1:43) 20. Harris Leaves (2:19) 21. Senza Fine (2:14) 22. Gabriele's Death (1:34) 23. Water (1:38) 24. Let's Get Back to Work (1:38) 25. Caravan (2:55) 26. Naughty Boy (2:29) 27. Model Planes (2:54) 28. The Difference (1:54) 29. The Propeller (2:44) 30. The Big Pull (1:36) 31. Rest Stop/The Ground Run (3:12) 32. Going Up (1:41) 33. Swimming Hole/Finale (1:11)Putting the total amount of music between the scores is odd, if you ask me.
Vaderbait1 1
Yeah. So if all the music is previously unreleased, why didn't they put in the music that was released to make a more complete score? Also, why was Batman released through FSM? You can find this anywhere. Was there a re-release I missed?
Kendal_Ozzel 36
I guess I'd better get A GUIDE FOR THE MARRIED MAN now.
Ollie 1,059
FSM's Patton is the first official CD release of the actual tracks used in the film. If you have the DVD or Laserdisc these are the cues as heard in the isolated score. Goldsmith re-recorded Patton and selections from Tora Tora Tora for Varese Sarabande in 1997. The LP released at the time of the movie is actually a re-recording as well if I'm not mistaken. The Varese release has the German march which is not on the FSM disc.FSM's Batman is from the 1966 film featuring the cast from the TV series scored by Nelson Riddle. Ollie 1,059
Yes for Prince Of Foxes and especially Prince Valiant.I don't have All About Eve or World Of Henry Orient. I guess I need to place an order.
robthehand 3
All About Eve is a great film, but I don't remember the score being anything special. I've never heard a note of Prince of Foxes, but I like the Prince Valiant suite on the Gerhardt Waxman album very much.Ah, what the hell, I'll probably wind up getting all three. If only I'd heard about them a week earlier, I could have got them in the sale.
Ollie 1,059
Ehh, I did the same thing as well. I'd been meaning to place an order while they were on sale but just didn't do it.
mahler3 478
Mmmm no danger of John Goldfarb, Please Come Home selling out then!
