I have to say I feel pretty ambivalent about the poster....but then again, I'm not really bothered about this film one way or the other so maybe thats why I feel this way. It seems to me like Oliver Stone is just being opportunistic in making this film and I doubt it will have any true discourse on why the WTC were taken down or why Islamic Terrorism is so prevalent around the world today in so many countries - now THAT would be a "courageous" film.

I'll put up my own entry up when I get home - its a real cracker [i can't access the site I want to right now because of my University's ridiculous censorship policy].

Music by Craig Armstrong... don't think I'll bother with this one (it's mainly Williams for whom I pay hard-earned admission fees to the theatre).

Right i'm home now. Here's the poster I would like to submit: its the One Sheet Poster for the Polish version of Raiders of the Lost Ark.

It's totally random and off the wall, and that's why I love it! I can see elements from the film [coat-hanger, cobra, whip], but I primarily love this poster and the other Polish posters because they are so unconventional and against the "norm".

For more randomness and a genuinely interesting insight into Polish culture, check out the following link courtesy of Retrocrush which has even more posters for you to ponder about (Look out especially for the Empire Strikes Back and Gremlins posters - I have no idea what half the posters mean or how they relate to the movies, but I sure do like them!).

EDIT: Good idea for a thread btw, Roald

Me too - the poster certainly seems to signify a slight shift in tone......Is Spidey mourning? Or are we in the presence of Venom? My appetite is truly whetted......and I still got over a year to wait!

Oh man, they're really going to do that story line? There's no way they can do it justice in one film. That's an arch they'd need to stretch over two, three movies. Can anyone tell what the reflection in his eye is?

How come the white web still stands outward on the suit? It's supposed to be a slick oil type susbstance. Am I worrying about this too much? LOL

I guessed I figured this statment of joy:

Wow!  That's pretty damn good.  Just hope the movie lives up to it.

somehow meant you followed a bit of the ol' Spider-man comic world.

;)

P.S. Please forgive my "fanboy"-ness

Yes, yes you are.

The black suit is the symbiote attached to Spidey's suit, and yes, Venom is in the movie along with Sandman and probably Green Goblin) is supposedly Venom.

As for the reflection in the eye, I've seen people make it out to be either Green Goblin or Venom. I think it's been made to look like whatever you think it is.

The Spiderman teaser poster works for me.

Doesn't really say anything overtly, but hints at possible storylines and gets you thinking about the movie.....

Exactly what a good teaser poster should do.

I know, but it's not supposed to look like a taylored suit.

Tim

Highlight for possible spoilers

Rumors going around are that when the symbiote first bonds with Spidey it basically just turns his suite black, but as time goes on it morphs more and more into what Venom looks like

i've been reading around and The Sandman is supposed to be the villian in Spidey 3 and Vemon doesn't show up until the end possibly setting up a 4th movie. oh and Gwen Stacy is in this one played by Bryce Dallas Howard (a.k.a. Ron Howard's daughter). so this means that a red head is played by a blonde and a blonde is played by a red head.

Oh, well, I guess they can get away with that (not that I have any control over it). It'll be a nice touch if it's true.

Burton's Batman's poster was great-- simple.

Horror / fantasy / science fiction movies often have good posters-- creature design, colors, mood, ...

The Spider-man 3 poster was posted by Greg already :).  Look back a few posts.

Tim

Look closer, notice the white venom symbol on it?
