robthehand 3
1. Each round, you vote for what you think is the weakest score. After 24 hours, the weakest score will be knocked out, and so on, until there is only one score left - the winner.2. Each poll is set for 24 hours, any votes AFTER that time won't register.3. If there is a tie between 2 or more scores, in order to keep things moving along, ALL of them will be knocked out, UNLESS it is the last round where there are only 2 scores left anyway (otherwise both would be knocked out and there would be no winner). Please report any errors *politely*. - - - - - - - - - - - In round one Conrack was voted off, round two Images, round three The Man Who Loved Cat Dancing and The Missouri Breaks, round four The Paper Chase, round five The Long Goodbye, round six Cinderella Liberty, round seven The Sugarland Express, round eight The Eiger Sanction, round nine Earthquake, round ten The Poseidon Adventure, Midway and Black Sunday, round eleven Family Plot, so your choices are:The CowboysThe Towering InfernoJawsStar WarsClose Encounters of the Third KindThe FuryJaws 2Superman - The MovieDracula1941or: I can't vote yet(I'm not including score adaptations.) Sergeant 1,093
Dracula again. Actually I realised just now that there is still Jaws 2 left...But, as a man of honor , I'll keep my previous vote.
batmanand 0
Yay I can start voting now.Dracula for me. Nothing of any real value in that score. At least The Towering Inferno has the theme, which is one of Williams' best of the 1970s IMO.
Marian Schedenig 5,520
I haven't heard it, but I just have to go with Towering Inferno now. With the possible exception of 1941 (which has a great march, but having not heard it outside the film - which was years ago -, I don't remember much else), all the others are just too good to give an unknown the benefit of doubt. Romão 1,931
Dracula for me. Nothing of any real value in that score. Marcus 385
Merkel, you're quite right! Williams' score for "Dracula" is simply superb, easily the best score for any vampire film, and one of Maestro Williams' most wildly romantic efforts! And when seen in the context of the film, it's truly a revelation. The finale is operatic in a Korngoldian manner, and the main theme is plainly brilliant (and harmonically very interesting, and quite involved,-progressions and inner lines Richard Strauss would have been supremely proud to have penned).Marcus
orrakul 0
The Fury Why?Looking at everything else on the list, it was The Fury or Dracula; I just had to make the call. I quite like both of these scores - I just like the other ones better. The next round of voting is where it's going to really start getting brutal. Guest macrea
Reporting an error politely: the lead post in this thread neglects to mention that Family Plot was voted off in round eleven.
