indy4 160 Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Somebody told me one of the trailers features an animated version of John Williams...I highly doubt that, but is there a character that looks like JW so I can set my friend straight?
Jilal 681 Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 So in what order are the comics filmed? The original order or a new one? The trailer is confusing.
Jay 46,244 Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Elements from all 3 stories are blended together into a new narrative. Two tidbits:1. Tin has a different motivation for buying the Unicorn at the beginning of the movie, as he hasn't met Haddock yet.2. Haddock now tells Tin the story of Sir Francis Haddock while they are lost in the desert after the biplane crashes (the part from "Golden Crab")
Muad'Dib 2,059 Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 New pictures!More here: http://tintinology.poosk.com/PS: I'm listening to Ennio Morricone's "Childhood Memories" from Once Upon a Time in America and if fits quite nicely
Naïve Old Fart 13,021 Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Has anyone noticed that Cpt. haddock looks a lot like a certain S. Spielberg, esq?
Sandor 918 Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Has anyone noticed that Cpt. haddock looks a lot like a certain S. Spielberg, esq?Funny. I see a certain P. Jackson as well...
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Rubbish. It's just Andy Serkis again!
Sandor 918 Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Steef, that is the second signature in a row that seriously disturbs me.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Which was the first?
Sandor 918 Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Which was the first? The one you had before this one.
Neimoidian 15 Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Has anyone noticed that Cpt. haddock looks a lot like a certain S. Spielberg, esq?No, it's clearly young George Lucas.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Is it legal to use Basil Rathbone's face for this film?
Josh500 1,620 Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 I hope this movie is a bit like SPR and not like Always.
Jay 46,244 Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 I hope this movie is a bit like SPR and not like Always.
Incanus 5,890 Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 I hope this movie is a bit like SPR and not like Always. I certainly think Josh has his Tintin and Warhorse threads mixed up.
Hlao-roo 390 Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 I hope this movie is a bit like SPR and not like Always.Me too.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Maybe it will be a mix of both...
Josh500 1,620 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 I hope this movie is a bit like SPR and not like Always. I certainly think Josh has his Tintin and Warhorse threads mixed up. No, I seriously am hoping Tintin is like Saving Private Ryan. Just kidding. Yeah you're right.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Of course I jest, you think I would not know the word's second best Sherlock Holmes?Who's face is he in Tin tin?
King Mark 3,975 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 It's going to be more like a cartoon Indiana Jones
Jilal 681 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 It has some great action scenes that are just *begging* for JW action music.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 It's going to be more like a cartoon Indiana JonesLets hope its closer to TLC then KOCS!
Ricard 2,671 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Let's hope it's closer to TOD than TLC!Oh wait... that's hoping waaay too much.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 I don't really think Tin tin warrants a all-out, balls to the walls score. Though I would love it if it turns out to be one.But I doubt it.,
Incanus 5,890 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Let's hope it's closer to TOD than TLC!Oh wait... that's hoping waaay too much. That is setting the bar truly so high that disappointment will be guaranteed. We come to automatically expect such greatness from John Williams that it would be impossible to anyone to attain such lofty heights we hope him to climb with everything he does. No matter how good the score will inevitably be compared to the music from the period when films and even Maestro himself was different.I am just hoping Williams had fun with his first animated feature and has written a colorful and enthusiastic action/adventure score. Also it will be interesting to hear has the longer scoring period affected the music. Williams has worked on Tintin quite a long time now with those recording sessions spanning a couple of years I guess.
Jay 46,244 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Right on the nose, Incanus.Don't expect a return to 80s or 90s greatness anyone. But its very fun
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Is it atleast at Harry Potter 1 level?
Incanus 5,890 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Is it atleast at Harry Potter 1 level? Now that would be pretty terrific. I have been writing an analysis on the score and HPPS is a true modern JW classic with best of both worlds, old and new Williams. I still can't believe he composed A.I. during the same year since both scores are just masterful.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Nothing he's done since then has come close.
Jay 46,244 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 They changed Haddock since the original Empire magazine pictures:
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Not just Haddock. The background is now out of focus.
Ricard 2,671 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Honestly I expect it to be only slightly better than KOTCS. And I bet I'll be right.
Incanus 5,890 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Haddock looks a bit more realistic in the new shot and his eyes are more natural. But in the comparison the whole emotional context must have been changed. The old one looks very fierce compared to the almost desparate one of the new footage.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 KOCS was a disappointment. I think I actually enjoy the movie more then the CD.I hope JW was more inspired by Tin tin, since animation is new for him.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Haddock looks a bit more realistic in the new shot and his eyes are more natural. But in the comparison the whole emotional context must have been changed. The old one looks very fierce compared to the almost desparate one of the new footage.Indeed.
Jay 46,244 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 I'd say he was definitely more inspired, considering he wrote more than double the amount of themes for Tintin than he did for KOCS.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 I don't care about the amount of themes. I just want them to be memorable.I still can't recall the Crystal Skull theme
Josh500 1,620 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 I am watching KOTCS right now, and I gotta say, the movie's a lot better than I thought... (love the opening scene with "Hound Dog" playing in the background).Rewatching it with no expectations whatsoever helps a lot, I guess.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,386 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 That scene is completely pointless. It just...dissolves.
