musicguy 0 Posted December 27, 2003 Posted December 27, 2003 On the "Saving Private Ryan" soundtrack I don't think the track "Approaching the Enemy" is used in the movie... can someone please tell me what part of the movie this music was written for??Thanks
King Mark 3,975 Posted December 28, 2003 Posted December 28, 2003 Good questionK.M.Not sure even the most adamant JWfan knows the answer to this question
QMM 4 Posted December 28, 2003 Posted December 28, 2003 Yeah AI's probably right, it was probably written for the Omaha scene but all the music got taken out
musicguy 0 Posted December 28, 2003 Author Posted December 28, 2003 i don't think so... the music certainly doesn't fit their approach onto Omaha

Jeshopk 8 Posted January 2, 2004 Posted January 2, 2004 That music was written for the part where they are walking and talking and it ends when the raindrop falls on the leaf. It is actually meant to start after the crane shot of the blimps in the aftermath of omaha but the theme was tracked again which was not good for the movie. I remember one reviewer as well as one personal friend who discredited Williams' approach for that very scene, not realizing the music was retracked.
Jeshopk 8 Posted January 4, 2004 Posted January 4, 2004 Anybody want to try it with that scene and give reactions?
CYPHER 1 Posted January 4, 2004 Posted January 4, 2004 "Approaching the enemy" is one of my favourite tracks from the album. It's got a real, soothing beauty to it as well as a tiny kernel of joy bubbling softly away amidst all those mournful horns and brooding snare drums. And you mean to say it's not even incorporated sensibly into the film? CYPHER
