EXTERNAL REVIEWS

  • Scientific American (Rehearsal review) – We’re sitting in the front row of the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra, listening to the musicians warm up for the dress rehearsal of tonight’s benefit concert starring John Williams, his movie music, and guest starring Steven Spielberg. Most people watch the musicians tinker, but we are noting details like the enormous screen hanging low over the conductor’s stand. – Full review (includes photos)
  • Phoenix New Times (Rehearsal review) – The stage was full of symphony members, leaving a small square for Williams, who took the stage promptly at 10 am. He spoke quietly and kept his instructions to a minimum, basically expressing happiness at the symphony’s performance. – Full review
  • AZ Sports and Lifestyle – There was definite magic in the air. With a full-house, I was struck by how everyone seemed to be on the edge of their seat… a palpable sense of excitement. When Mr. Spielberg came out, the place went crazy. Aside from the celebrity, there was a definite sense of, ‘Wow, two masters at their craft, are standing here in the flesh reminiscing about their journey together, and we are in-on-it.’ It was just surreal.” – Full review (includes photos)
