  1. Dear JW fans: Wow, thanks for all the quick responses! But i think you guys misunderstood some information 1. My wind ensemble has won awards on the national level, it is definately up to the challenge! I can SO understand u guys saying how i shouldnt give my band too hard music, i have seen even university bands playing crappy JW. However, as i have just menitioned, my band is "exceptionall" . 2. Most of my band students LOVE jw. One day after marching band, i cant believe that when i turn on the band room TV, jurassic park was playing, and it grabbed EVERYONE'S attention. Such a loud band room turned so quiet in such a littletime! 3. my players are capable of playing hard and diffcult music, but since its still early in teh year, they are not back to their full shape yet! i just need to get them ready in the just 3 days Also, they still play JW music prettygood, just not up to my standards. I can easily tell the JW pieces have much more energy and expressiveness in contrast to teh james swearingen and curnow pieces. SO i just need help how to fix this A+ national band back into shape in the next 5 days! Like, what motivation or encouragment can i use?THANKS! -Erich Kunzel BTW, whats so funny about the prague philh brass section>? i heard them once playing strauss pieces, and they sounded great!
  2. Dear John William fans- I am a John Williams fan myself, and recently i became the head band director in a local high school. I have decided that in my first ever concert, my school's wind ensemble will feature lots of John WIlliam's pieces. I have included the Raider's March, Supeman, Star wars, E.T., Stargate, Jurassic Park, Jaws, Sugarland Express, 1984 olympic fanfare and Star Trek in it. (all oringal version) but HOWEVER, my band is not all that great!!! The trumpets has no range!! the trombone sounds weak and soft. On Superman and Star wars, i even told the trumpets to player lower an octave if needed to, and the trombones to blow hard. Still, the trumpets has bad tone, and the trumpets has this big rough rouchy tone quality lacking air support. I have rehearsed this band over again and again, they dont seeem to be getting better! anyone can give me an advice on how to fix this inexpereinced band??? also, oon most pieces, the percussions is out of tempo!!! so Help!!!! last, on Star gate, i have no chorus, so how should i replace that? On the sugarland express, i have now harmonica, what should i use to replace that??? -Erich Kunzel Inexpereinced band director
